Hey Little Magpie May 2026 Embellishment Kit | Jackie Ashton

Hi Jackie here, and for my first layout for May, I had so much fun creating with the Hey Little Magpie May 2026 Embellishment Kit, and I couldn’t resist pairing it with Simple Stories’ Rustic Legends collection.

The two work together beautifully, especially if you’re looking to put together a more masculine layout. The earthy tones, natural textures, and subtle details really complement each other and make it easy to build something that feels both rugged and personal.

One of my favourite elements from the kit has to be the buttons. They’re such a simple addition, but they add so much character. I stitched through several of them and deliberately left the thread ends loose to give my page that slightly distressed, lived-in feel. It’s a small touch, but it makes a big difference in adding texture and movement.

The wood title is another standout piece. It instantly draws the eye and gives the layout a strong focal point without needing much extra embellishment around it. Sometimes it’s nice to let one piece do the heavy lifting, and this title does exactly that.

To add a bit more dimension, I attached a ribbon loop to the top of my photograph and paired it with one of the fabric loops from the kit. These soft elements help balance out the sturdier textures  of the page.

Adding the camera charm to dangle from the photograph, and some stamp stitched details around the  layout.
