Heritage – Maggie Holmes | Morag Cutts
Hi Magpies! I have been playing with the stunning Heritage collection this month from Maggie Holmes. It is a beautiful mix of colours – something a little different for autumn. At first, I wasn’t sure about the collection initially, but once I had a little play, I had to get some more!
PARTAY – 80’s Style
We recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and hosted an 80’s party with some friends. Although the collection has nothing to do with the 80’s, I loved these photos of my friend and I before the party started.
I started with my favourite patterned paper Homestead – the colour of this paper is gorgeous and the pattern doesn’t overwhelm the photos. To make a vertical border, I used various stamps and paper strips, this is a great way to ‘hang’ your photos and embellishments.
I fussy cut some flowers and elements from the 6×8 paper pad which is a great size. There are 24 sheets of single-sided paper including gold foiled sheets. I then stamped some butterflies and coloured them watercolour pencils and inks.
The Decades paper has lots of great images, so I cut out the silhouette and mounted it onto the frame sticker. I tucked in some of my own little trinkets – I often save found objects for a rainy day! It’s a good idea to overlap your elements for a really polished look. The tags are hand cut from the paper pad for more dimension and interest.
Fashion Passion
In this next layout, I love the little clothing elements on the Decades paper and used it as my jump point.
How adorable is that little washing line?! To begin, I cut out several elements from the Decades paper includng the glasses, camera and cameo.
To make the ‘washing line’, I stretched twine across the page and then hung the various elements from the twine. The elements were popped onto foam tape and I curled the edges of the clothing to add drama and dimension.
To add a fun twist to some elements – I turned the purse into a handbag by adding a twine strap and did the same with the camera.
Lastly, to decorate around my photos, I fussy cut some butterflies from the Recollection paper and added houses from Homestead paper.
Two quite different looks from one collection – I love it! I hope I have inspired you to try Heritage. It’s a beautiful collection with lovely autumnal colours.
Thanks for popping in.
