Hello World
I love a mini album and travel albums are my favourite to make. Usually I make them about a particular holiday, but this time I thought I’d combine snapshots of lots of holidays in the same album. So this ‘mini’ album packs a load of holidays and a couple of day trips in, spanning from pre-marriage and pre-kids to family holidays and days out. I decided to use just one travel collection, the new one by My Minds Eye ‘Hello World’. It’s a gorgeous collection of softly coloured vintage style icons and papers, right up my street.
I made the mini album 6×6″ and cut up some 12×12 patterned papers and some cardstock.
‘My Travels’
‘World Map’
‘Here & There’
Niche ‘On Trend’ cardstock pack
(I used the ‘On Trend’ cardstock pack rather than the Hello World cardstock pack because I preferred the colours)
I used some chipboard to sandwich between a piece of paper and a piece of cardstock for the front and back covers to make them nice and rigid. I adhered them together with double sided tape around the edges and a good covering of gluestick in the centre of the pieces. I decided where I wanted the book rings to go and punched holes through each cover and inner page with my crop-a-dile. Then I decorated the front and back covers with pieces from the collection and painted around the edges with a light brown acrylic paint to hide the chipboard, paper and cardstock sandwich.
Then came the big task of finding and scanning pre-digital photographs, finding digital holiday photos, making collages and printing them all out. I printed the photos on to semi-gloss photo paper at home rather than glossy photo paper. If I’d had some to hand I would have opted for matt photo paper to reduce the finger prints left on the photos when the album is flicked through, or been more organised and had them printed on matt photo paper by a photo developer!
Once I’d stuck the photos on to the inner pages in my album in date order I went about embellishing it, the fun part! I use Herma repositional adhesive, which means I could lift the photo and move it around on the page easily, so handy. As I mentioned earlier I stuck with the one travel collection which greatly reduced the amount of time deciding what ‘pretties’ to put on my pages. I used the following items from the My Minds Eye ‘Hello World’ travel collection;
‘Adventure’ 12×12 Chipboard Elements
‘Adventure’ Decorative Brads
‘All Aboard’ Flairs
‘All Aboard’ Wood Veneers
‘Beauty’ Rub Ons
‘Discovery’ Sticky Notes
‘Travel’ Mixed Bag
In addition to these I used some things I had in my stash already; plain luggage tags, American Crafts Inventory tags and some new letter stickers by Simple Stories.
Here’s how it turned out (and don’t worry I’ll not bore you with the whole book!)
Gorgeous collection isn’t it? It can all be found on the website here;
Thanks for coming over, see you next month!
