Hello Today – Simple Stories | Amy Kattenbelt

Hey Magpies, Amy here sharing two more layouts using the vibrant “Hello Today” collection by Simple Stories.

Hello Today

For this layout I used a piece of white cardstock, plus two of the patterned papers. The red floral paper is the b-side of the December paper, and the polkadot pattern is from the b-side of the January paper. I layered them up at a jaunty angle and added lots of wobbly stitching with my magine, in both straight and zig-zag stitch for more interest.

For framing my photo I used one the chipboard frame, from the 6 pack of frames in the collection. Next I added even more details to the frame by wrapping pieces of the rainbow striped washi tape to the top left corner, and added lots more stickers.

I used puffy stickers to add extra dimension and fun details too.

At the edges of the patterned paper, which I had distressed prior to sticking it all down, I curled back small areas and stuck little stickers peeping out. This is a really fun little detail to add to your layouts.

For the title, I used the ‘Hello Today’ foam stickers from the foam phrase pack. I just love that the title incorporated all the colours from the collection, but was so quick and easy to simply stick onto my layout.

To add the date, I used a roller stamp and stamped on to a label. Have you see that the Hey Little Magpie shop has a FREE downloadable file full of little labels that you can print and cut out? They are super versatile, I use them a lot!

Family Details

For my next layout I also wanted to use one of the chipboard frames. If you pop over and have a look at the original set, you will notice that the pink frame that I have used, was actually designed to be used with two 3×4 photos. Next I carefully cut the middle part from the two frame areas out with a penknife and now I could use the frame for one 6×4 photo instead. A super handy little trick!

As with my previous layout I added extra stickers to the frames edges for more interest. I also added some twine for a bit more texture.

The photo cluster was placed onto of a mixed media background that I created with distress oxides and various stencils. I finished the background with some black outline work and also some yellow heart stamps. This heart stamp is from the brilliantly useful stamp set that comes with this collection. It features days of the week, months of the year, numbers and little stamps that say ‘st’, ‘nd’, ‘rd’, ‘th’, ‘am’ and ‘pm, as well as some versatile icon shapes. They are so great for adding dates, and even times to your projects.

To frame the whole layout I used two torn stripes of patterned papers at the top of the layout. At the bottom of the layout instead of paper, I used stripes of washi tape from the collection.

The whole layout was finished off by adding some stickers and ephemera pieces, a foam word that says ‘details’ and some stamped journalling.

Thank you for taking a closer look at my layouts. If you have purchased this collection then I would love to see what you have created. Why not share your projects with us over on the Hey Little Magpie facebook group. Take Care, and Stay Safe,
