Heidi Swapp | Storyline Chapters | Amy Kattenbelt

I have been playing with the new Storyline Chapters releases from Heidi Swapp. She has a whole system including albums and notebooks, along 3 lines of Journalling, Scrapbooking or Planning. But today I want to show you that the collection is also brilliant for traditional 12×12 scrapbook layouts. My favourite three 12×12 papers from the collection are Home Grown, Sunnyside and Notebook. The 6×8 paper pad is great value, as are the 3 different mini sticker books. I chose the Journaller Sticker Book to create my layouts.

Layout One – St. Giles Cathedral

This patterned paper was one of the main reasons I was first drawn to this collection. Its a beautiful watercolour striped paper. I knew straight away that I wanted to cut out the stripes, distress the edges and sew them onto a piece of white cardstock. Once this was done, the rest of the layout came together very quickly.

I used the yellow ‘pure happiness’ from from the ephemera pack to frame my photo. Next I then used various thickers to add my title and date.

I went through the ephemera pack and sticker book, pulling out pieces that I liked and placed them along the same coloured stripe as my background. So all the pink pieces were at the bottom and the greens at the top. I used the photo corners from the sticker book as chevron style arrows.

Lastly I added some enamel dots in matching colours to complete the layout.

Layout Two – Whatcha Lookin’ At?

My starting point for this layout was the rainbow patterned paper from the 6×8 paper pad. I decided to create a mixed media background using watercolour paints in colours to match the paper. I then used my sewing machine to stitch the rainbow paper on top of my background. Then I added a little pieces of patterned papers behind some distressing to the edges of the white cardstock.

I added the title using the alphabet stickers from the Journaling Sticker Book. I just love how the letters vary in saturation and are translucent, which would look really cool overlapped. On my layout it means you can still see the mixed media background through the title.

I then went through the ephemera and stickers, using a lot of the postal mark pieces as well as the rainbow sticker and die cut. My favourite piece (which is luckily in both the sticker book and ephemera pack) is this cute transparent butterfly.

Layout Three – Sunshine in my Soul

My third layout features a hexagon design. I picked out some pattern papers from the 6×8 pad, choosing a green, yellow, pink and grey design, and used my cuttlebug to die cut 3 different sizes of hexagons. The white cardstock background was trimmed down to 11.5″ x 11.5″ and stitched it onto the gorgeous black and white dot patterned 12×12 paper.

I embellished the hexagons with items from the sticker book and ephemera pack, mainly focusing on the floral elements.

Then I used the phrases sticker and alpha stickers to create this title.

The layout was finished with a splatting of fine black ink.

I hope these layouts might inspire you to look at the Storyline Chapters collection and see just how versatile it can be.
