Heidi Swapp – Set Sail | Part One | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here today to share with you a mixed media layout using the new Heidi Swapp collection called “Set Sail“.
To start my layout I used the packaging technique to lay down some distress oxide in Broken China down the centre of my 12×12 white cardstock. When this was dry, I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide and the AALL & Create #8 stencil on top of my ink splotches.
I ripped a narrow piece of the patterned paper called “Rope Knots” so both sides of it were torn and stuck it down vertically in the middle of my layout. From this anchor point (no pun intended!) I created the rest of my layout.
To the lower left side I fussy cut several tags from the paper called Tags” and layered them up. I topped this with a circular die cut from the ephemera pack.
I matted my 3×4″ photo onto a piece of navy patterned paper and distressed the edges. When I looked at my layout I saw that there was a circular theme developing. So I ran with this idea. I used a 1.5″ circle punch to cut the compasses out of the patterned paper called “Manifests“. Then I used a 0.5” punch to punch some of the circles from the paper called “Circles“. I stuck them to my layout.
I added my title, subtitle and date around these circles using Doodlebugs Puffy Sticker letters in Bumblebee yellow. This colour matched the boat sail in my photo.
The layout was completed by adding some fussy cut boats, some stickers and die-cuts.
Thank you so much for coming to take a look at my layout. Don’t forget that as today (6th May 2023) is interNational Scrapbook Day we have a fun Scraplift Extravaganza going on in our Hey Little Magpie group. We would love to see you there!
