Heidi Swapp mix up part 2 | Julie Taylor
Hi Magpies, Julie back with you again today, sharing 2 more layouts using a mix of the Heidi Swapp collections in the store.
EPIC 2015
I chose this background, lost paper from the Storyline collection, as my base for my first layout. I went a different route, to begin with, & added inked triangles, through a stencil down the middle of the page but after I’d done it I didn’t like it!!!! so then covered them up with some dry brushed black acrylic paint. I lightened that up by adding some white texture paste, again through a stencil & I was much happier with the end result.
I matted my 2 photos & started to build my layers, going down the page using die cuts, fussy cutting, stickers, bits out the ephemera packs. I curled a couple of pieces of patterned paper & adhered those at the top, tucking my first photo underneath & then built off from that. I find the key to doing a page like this is getting most of the pieces to touch & not let them float on their own, keeping it tight & in clusters.
I’d printed the bottom photo twice so used the spare one to back the die cut Epic word & layered it on top of the first photo.
I love that even though we cannot visit these cities, at the moment, we can scrap about them & re-live the memories.
Just have fun
My second page couldn’t be more different to the first, if I’d tried, but that’s the beauty of these collections.
I started by adding the word FUN,to a gessoed cardstock, using different colours of oxide ink & the fab Old School Clear Stamps ( a steal at only £5.99) which I then watered down so it looks like the words bleed & I added splatters in all the colours.
I then built my cluster, over to the far right, adding strips of paper, lace, trim, tags & even a paint colour chart!!! I LOVE these & may just have a few stashed away!!
I added another cluster, to the left of the photo & added my title there, from the Old School 6×12 stickers & a Hey Little Magpie flair.
I have really enjoyed mixing these collections & hope I’ve inspired you, a little, to go & check out the beautiful collections by Heidi Swapp.
Until next time, Take care,
