Heidi Swapp – Honey & Spice | Caroline Aston
Hello Magpies, I have two layouts to share with you today using the Honey and Spice collection from Heidi Swapp. It is a fairly small collection, but it still contains lots of beautiful patterned papers and embellishments containing lovely shades of pink, orange and brown.
A Little Bit of Family Time
I started my first layout by selecting the B-Side of the Cider House Paper as my background. I loved the stripe and thought the colours worked really well with the colours in my photo. Usually I create my layouts on a plain white cardstock background. However, this collection has lots of different papers that would make fab backgrounds.
Next I fussy cut the big floral border strip from the Wallflower Paper. Positioning it along the full left hand edge of my page. I also cut a piece of the B-side of the Color Flow Paper to layer behind my 6×4 photo.
I embellished the page with this gorgeous camera and tag from the Happy Day Paper, which has a number of cut apart elements. Also stamping and fussy cutting a number of flowers using the Clear Acrylic Accent Stamp Set. I used the Color Flow Paper for my stamped flowers, picking out the pinks and purples of the page. Building them up and tucking them into three different areas of the page around the photo.
I finished the tag cluster off by adding a few stickers from the Cardstock Stickers. Adding the date to the label sticker with a roller date stamp. Then I added my title with some tile letter stickers and some Thickers. Finally finishing the page by adding my journaling to one of the white stripes.
These Are My Favourite Days
For my second layout, I again started the page with a patterned paper background. This time choosing the B-side of the La Fleur Paper. I edited my photo before printing it at 6×4” to really tone down the colours. Matting it onto black card, to make it stand out from the page.
I chose two patterned papers to layer behind my photo. The B-side of the Wallflower paper and the B-side of the Marmalade Paper. I loved the marmalade pattern as it reminded me of the sun, perfect for my holiday layout.
For my title, I used one of the quotes from the Happy Day cut apart sheet, which I positioned to the left of the photo. I picked two more pieces from the cut apart sheet to form the base of my embellishment clusters. Which, I positioned in a diagonal line from top left to bottom right, to lead the eye across the page. I fussy cut out two cameras from the fab Captured Paper and stamped and cut out some little stars which I added to my clusters along with some stickers.
I finished the page by using an Elle’s Studio stamp to add some journaling lines to the page and hand wrote my journaling.
That’s all from me today, if you like the look of the Honey & Spice collection you can find it here. I will be back next month, so until then happy scrapping.
