Having the BEST Summer Ever | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, Niki here today and I have seven layouts to share! I am working with the Best Summer Ever Collection by Echo Park this month and having a great time creating loads of layouts. I shared two layouts using this collection earlier in the month.

I have the 12 x 12 papers, the Ephemera, the Decorative Brads, Enamel Dots, a Stencil and the Stamp Set. I’ve added minimal other things from my stash, including mixed media items, thread, acrylic shapes and alphabet stickers.

For my layout above, Fun in the Sun, I have used a stencil from this collection to make the splash marks all over the background, and then I added coloured paints.

For Fine-Apples I used the fabulous pineapple paper which I cut into strips. I used a scalloped border punch on each strip and layered them up. I doodled on the scallops to make them more fun and added a doily under my photos.

For ‘Lolly Love’ I tore off a large piece of the lolly paper which I layered with another paper. I used a journaling card from one of the cut-apart papers to mount my photos and have also added in quite a few pieces of ephemera.

For Wet n Wild, I followed a sketch that is over on For the Love of Pretty Paper Scrapbooking group right now. It is such a fun sketch but also a little scary! I just went for it with my scissors and cut up those triangles free hand. I got them in place, added machine stitching as well as additional lines with a pen and ruler. I love the result, I think it’s my favourite layout of all these.

For Pool Party I cut lots of strips of patterned paper, distressed the edges of all of them and layered them up. I added machine stitching and a few embellishments.

So onto my last two layouts – school photos. I always buy their school photos, both their individual ones and their class ones. I feel that I must have this as a record for my children, but I always hate the photos! So my new rule is that I must scrap them straight away, otherwise they sit in my ‘to scrap’ pile for ages becuase I really don’t like the photos! So mission accomplished, both scrapped the day after I received them.

For Year 1 I used the BEACH banner but because I didn’t have any beach photos, I had struggled to use this. I therefore covered up the letters with a rectangle of white card, and then added my own alphabet stickers.

For Year 3 I used a patterned paper background and used up all the little bits and pieces I had left over. I’m so pleased that I have scrapped these photos so quickly, I feel a definite sense of achievement 🙂

OK, so seven layouts later and I’m calling that kit finished lol

Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope you’ve enjoyed my marathon of layouts today. Make sure you check out the Best Summer Ever collection as it’s fab for holiday photos or summer snaps.

Happy scrapping xxx
