Happy new year with happy Maggie Holmes!
Happy New Year Magpies! I hope 2015 is wonderful for all of you!
So it’s Rachel here to start off the new year and I’m doing it with Maggie Holmes! I have been a fan of all the Maggie Holmes lines for Crate Paper, I love the beautiful colours and they all go together which is fantastic. I also love how all the latest Crate Paper ranges will go with each other. Maggie Holmes Open Book, Notes & Things and Kiss Kiss all co-ordinate and look great together. Maggie Holmes makes me happy!
I started with a LO using cards from the Maggie Holmes Flea Market PL Mini Kit. I actually just picked out some 6×4 and 4×3 cards and started layering them up on the page for this LO. It didn’t seem to matter how I layered them, they always looked good! My title comes from the Vellum Shapes Pack, I’ve layered up some of the flowers from the Floral Ephemera & Leaves pack and used foam pads for height and the little word stickers I’ve used down the right hand side of the photo are from the Accent & Phrase Sticker Sheet. I’ve also added some enamel dots which just matched my colours and a bow from the Glitter Ribbon Bows Pack to finish things off.
My next 2 LO’s I’ve just used lots of the ephemera from the various ephemera and vellum packs. These packs have so many shapes in them, they’ll keep you going for ages! I think they’re such good value for money and a definitely must have, if you’re into this collection, or any of the Crate collections, the ephemera packs are so worth it.
For this Paris LO, I went through the Die Cut Ephemera Pack and picked out all the pink items. I cut a rectangle from the Sweet Story Paper and then started layering up all my ephemera. It does just look beautiful no matter how you layer it, everything just works! I have the Royal Foil Word Thickers from the new Dear Lizzy Serendipity line and I had to use the ‘merci’ on this LO didn’t I! Those Thickers are such a beautiful gold as well, I think it’s more of a rose gold than anything and they’re just beautiful, another must have item! I used another bow from the Glitter Ribbon Bows Pack, a single word ‘lovely’ from the Phrase & Word Label Sticker Sheet and these are so lush, I think one makes a big impact. I also added in a Gold Glitter Heart Sticker from the new American Crafts DIY Shop 2 line, and these are definitely another must have item, they’re gorgeous and very usable. I sewed a line of zigzag stick down either side and added dots with a Sharpie under and above and was done. This LO is on a white background, as are the following 2, I struggled with the light to get them photographed sorry!
My next LO I used some of the gorgeous tags from the Layered Tags Pack. I really liked the pink crate paper on the tags I chose and I decided to replicate that with a strip of patterned paper. I used the Memoir Paper, cut a strip and scrunched it up. Then I folded to get the same look as the crate paper and sewed it on with my sewing machine. I love the finished result! It was one of those experiments which I wasn’t sure would work or not. For the rest of the LO I just added bits here and there. I’ve used the tags, bits from the Die Cut Ephemera Pack, the Vellum Shapes Pack, stickers from the Accent & Phrase Sticker Sheet and my title is from the Glitter Foam Thickers. I just kept adding a bit here and a bit there!
For my last LO I wanted to show that the Maggie Holmes Open Book range is not all about pink and girly! I chose to use some of the other colours. I started with some of the Recolection Paper which is a subtle leaf pattern. I also used a strip from the Little Notes Paper which is the yellow chevron pattern. The rest of the LO is made up using some of the rub-ons from the Rub Ons Accent Pack, the title is from the Glitter Foam Thickers Pack and I’ve used quite a few stickers from the Accent & Phrase Sticker Sheet, some of which I put on foam pads for more interest. The large flowers come from that sticker sheet.
I think the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection is so pretty, but it’s not all about pink! Fingers crossed there’s a new Maggie Holmes collection out soon!
