Happy Blooms by Pinkfresh Studio -Part 1 – Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Craft Magpies, Amy here sharing two layout creations using the new Pinkfresh Studio collection called ‘Happy Blooms‘. Its a great mix of rainbow pastel colours that are perfect for documenting outdoor photos.
Plenty of plums on our tree
My first layout share is a mixed media style 12×12 layout. The background is a piece of card from Vicki Boutin’s 12×12 Foundations paper pad, my favourite medium to created mixed media layouts. I created a vertical central column in a rainbow of coloured inks that matched the collection.
I added my title to the centre of the layout, using both the mini alphas and the larger green puffy alphabet from the collection. The two photos, of my plum tree last spring, were added one each side of the title. They have a simple white border.
I added two of the leaf die cut ephemera pieces from 49 & Market. The are so beautiful and were a perfect match for my photos that I couldn’t resist using a few, and am excited to create a lot more layouts with them in the future.
I then had a lot of fun scattering ephemera from the Happy Blooms collection on my layout. I tried to match up a lot of the colours to my mixed media background, especially the word pieces. The collection is full of fruit themed pieces so I used lots of those. I also added some of the smaller puffy stickers from the collection too.
I fussy cut from pretty butterflies from Paige Evans Wonder collection, paper 8. They were also a perfect colour match to my layout, and I love butterflies! A date tab above the first photo was added, which I created with a stamp set and die set from Elle’s Studio. Lastly, I added a good amount of enamel dots from the PFS Happy Blooms collection, again matching the colours to the background.
Morning coffee at dads
My second layout is a floral themed layout using lots of flower dies cuts from the floral ephemera pack. I used a piece of smooth white cardstock for my base, and then a pieces of paper called ‘Cottage‘, which is a pink diagonal grid pattern. This paper was cut down to 10″x10″, and then I stuck it to the lower right corner of my layout.
I layered my photo with several papers from the 6×6 paper pack. Then I turned my attention to the title. For the word ‘Coffee’, I used the Large Jane Outline Alphabet stamp set by Elle’s Studio and some black ink. I stamped each letter onto a different paper (again from the 6×6 pack) and fussy cut them out. There is a matching die set available if fussy cutting is not your cup of tea! The rest of the title was creating using the mini puffy alphabet from the PFS Happy Blooms collection. I avoided using the pink coloured letters in case they got a bit lost of the pink paper.
I added the floral die cut pieces all along the border between my white cardstock and the patterned paper, overlapping them. Next I also added some die cuts around the photo (the cup piece was perfect for my photo). I fussy cut some of the teeny butterflies and scattered them around the pink paper.
For a bit of added interest and texture I added a couple of tags peeking out of the florals. I also used some stamp edged scissors to cut out the 6×6 paper that had a design of lots of little stamps, and I tucked some of those amongst the flowers too.
I hope you are inspired by my two layouts. I’ll be back later in August to share some more ideas using this collection. In the mean time take care and stay safe,
