Happy Birthday with Elle’s Studio | Sheena Rowlands
Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again x
This month I will be sharing with you different layouts created using the most recent release by Elle’s Studio to coincide with their birthday. It was perfect timing for me as my Daughter was celebrating a big birthday in March & I knew this collection would be perfect for me to capture this.
To be honest I’d not created with Elle’s Studio papers before but was impressed with the quality of them plus all the extra embellishments in this Birthday release.
21.
I wanted to use the Elle’s Studio Make a Wish stamp set and spent a bit of time trying to decide which stamps to use from the set. Finally I decided to stamp the full set just as it is in a repeating pattern all over the white cardstock base using an embossing ink pad and then clear embossing powder. Once heated the stamping showed up white and shiny.
To co ordinate with my photo I applied Distress oxide inks in pastel coloured bands up the cardstock blending each colour into the next. Afterwrds I wiped over the embossing with paper towel to remove any ink from it. I matted my photo using papers from the Celebrate 6 x 81/2in stack and a 6x4in card from the March monthly kit. I added embellishment to the photo with the large acetate numbers and a Happy Birthday wood veneer.
Hooray!
For my second layout I continued with the Birthday theme.
One of the papers in the Celebrate 6×81/2in stack featured 8 stripes & I decided that these would make great birthday candles. I chose 7 of the 8 strips which suited my photos and odd numbers seem to always look better.
First I got white cardstock as my base and using watered down watercolour paint I added stripes of the same colours as the paper strips to the cardstock. Using white iridescent paint I painted some cardstock and when it was dry cut flame shapes from it. The flames were stuck in position and machine sewn down the the strips curved and added on top using foam pads.
At the lower end I adhered 3 photos down using foam pads. Using the Elle’s Studio Make a Wish stop set I stamped 7 pennents in matching colours to the paper strips and added these behind the Hooray! wood veneer banner before sticking this in place.
I hope these pages have inspired you to check out the Elle’s Studio supplies in the Hey Little Magpie shop. Please share with us your creations over on our Facebook group.
Till next time x
