Groovy Darlin’ | Julie Taylor

Hello Magpies

Julie here with you today & I’m sharing my latest layout using the Jen Hadfield Groovy Darlin’ collection. Have you looked at this collection? I have really loved creating with it & this is my 5th layout & I still have loads left for more projects.

I started this page on the B side of the Mellow patterned paper, a lovely pale blue ledger. I went with a vertical design & my main inspiration was the fussy cut element out of the Bright Side paper. As that’s quite a large piece I placed that down first & built up my clusters around it.

Once I had worked out where my main clusters were going to go I could add a bit of background work. I never stick anything down at this point, knowing I’ll want to add some MM but do build up my clusters, & sometimes stick them together but not to the page, to give me placement. I added some stencilling  with Speckled egg oxide ink & stamped, in a couple of places, with the distressed grids Hey Little Magpie stamps & added some splatters in Mustard Seed Oxide ink.

I added both my photos on papers from the 6×8 paper pad & distressed the edges & then adhered my cluster adding bits from the paperie pack, ephemera, die cuts & stickers.

I even managed to use the cactus, in the collection!! These were more for size & scale as my photo has nothing to do with cactus!! but that doesn’t bother me & I  love how they look.

Thanks for joining me today, I hope I have inspired you in some way.

Until next time,
