Go Where the Stars take You

Hi everyone, I’m back for my last blog post of the year and I’m using Vicki Boutin Storyteller Collection. I wanted to show the selection of papers in the collection and decided to create a star from the different designs. I drew the design on paper first and made a template and then machine  sewed around each piece in gold thread.

Having created the star I decided to gut the 12×12 Fresh Cut paper to make a border for the LO. I then machine sewed over the white card stock with gold thread. I also added gold splatters around the star.

I used the photo frame from the Tell your Story Chipboard Phrase and Word Thicker sheet around my photo. I raised it on sticky fixers.

I added some more pieces from the chipboard sheet around the photo

I  then added the title ‘Go where the Stars take You’ from the card stock sticker sheet and a few small heart stickers.

LAYOUT 2  CHRISTMAS AT KEW 2020

Although this is not a Christmas collection as my photos were of Christmas lights I managed to create a Christmas LO using dies and the papers from the 6×8 paper pad.

I started with the 12×12 Songbird paper on the B side as it was so bright and in christmas colours and then I added a narrow border either side from the 6×8 paper pad, I distressed the edges.. I matted my two photos from the 6×8 papers. I then used a Christmas tree die and cut the trees in different papers . I also used a circle die and used a golden coloured paper from the paper pad to match in with the arch and the lights.

I also used a journal card from the cut apart sheet and die cut a bow from the red on the striped sheet.

I added the scalloped banner from the chipboard sheet upside down above the photos to highlight the arch in the pictures.

I fussy cut some of the birds from the 6×8 paper pad and added them by the tree clusters. I then added a couple of trees at the bottom of the LO to balance it and added the title in a selection of gold thickers.

I love how this LO came together with a Christmas theme although it is not a Christmas collection. I hope you will feel inspired to use a collection in a different way to how it is themed.

I look forward to seeing your LO’s posted on our Facebook page.

As the year draws to an end don’t forget the December challenge and I hope you find some free time to scrap over the holiday season.

Keep safe and Happy Christmas ! See you all in 2021.
