Gingerbread Houses Mini Book Part 1 -Simple Stories – Baking Spirits Bright -Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! This month I am using Simple Stories Baking Spirits Bright Collection which was so perfect for me as every year we make Gingerbread houses with our German friends and I’ve always wanted to make a mini book about them but have never got round to it. This collection was so weighted towards baking and gingerbread I just had to do it! I chose the chipboard  frames to use, 3×4, 6×4, 2×2 and 4×4 elements cut apart sheets, chipboard stickers, 12×12 tag sheet, gingerbread bits and pieces, decorative brads and the stamp set from the collection.

For the front cover I used a large 6×4 frame and made a shaker cover. I backed the frame with acetate, then I put  3D sticky fixers around and added some carnival candies and then a backing piece of paper which I had stuck some gingerbread ephemera too from the gingerbread bits and pieces pack. I then added a row of pompoms along the bottom edge. To start going through the book on the back of the front cover I added a tag and some stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet to embellish the first photo. I then used a 6×4 element from the cut apart sheet for the following page.

This paper had a patterned background so I added two more photos and used a selection of stickers again from the sticker sheet and a piece from the gingerbread bits and pieces. I made the following page from another 6×4 cut apart element, turning over the page I used the recipes card from the 12×12 paper journal paperand used a sticker from the sticker book along wiht some chipboard stickers.

I journaled the gingerbread recipe on this page and on the following one the method,  this page was made from 12×12 papers and I stuck two pieces together which were 4×4. I used another card from the journal sheet and added stickers and a decorative brad.

On the back of the patterned 4×4 paper I added the large Peace, Love and Cookies sticker along with some chipboard gingerbread men. I used white card stock and made some more 6×4 pages and added a 3×4 photo to the right side and a 3×4 journal element onto the left side, I embellished with the chipboard stickers.

Over the page  I stamped on one of the tags from the tag sheet, I cut the bottom off  and added a sticky border from the sticker sheet. I used the rest of the border along the top of the page. I mounted the photo on patterned paper and wrapped some bakers twine around the bottom of it and attached a gingerbread heart. for the following page I cut a 6×4 piece from one of the patterned papers and used a 4×4 photo, again I embellished with chipboard and stickers.

I used a tag on the next side and journaled how we came to make gingerbread houses and what a lovely tradition it now is for us, I added the gingerbread bits and pieces and some stickers and a brad, I used another frame and put a photo inside it this time and then backed the whole frame , I added more pompoms on the side for decoration and some gingerbread hearts.

To hold the book altogether I used metal rings and I tied different ribbons around them and also added a couple of metal charms and a 2021 bramblefox perspextive.

I have completed the book but will show you the second half in my next blog post, I hope you have enjoyed it so far and might be tempted to use this collection.

Till next time … happy scrapping!
