Gingerbread House Mini Book part 2 – Simple Stories – Baking Spirits Bright – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! It’s Wendy here again and I’m sharing the second half of the mini book I made using the Baking Spirits Bright Collection by Simple Stories. Every year we traditionally make the gingerbread and then the houses and then decorate them. We do this with my German friend and her family and we have been doing this for almost 20 years now! I have always meant to document the day but have never got round to it so seeing this gorgeous collection all about gingerbread, it has been the perfect time to create a little mini book.

Continuing on from where I left off before the top page seen her was the back of a chipboard frame so I backed it with paper from the 6×8 paper pad, I raised the photo on sticky fixers and added stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet to embellish. The word phrases are from the sticker book. The page below was made from two 3×4 element cards from the 3×4 elements paper, I backed them with a 6×4  piece of paper from the 6×8 paper pad. When I attached the backing I only used tape around three sides and was able to slot in a tag which has journalling on the back.

From the journal elements 12×12 sheet I cut out the cookies journal piece and then cut it down and added it to the left side of the 6×4 paper, I used the Stamp set and created the little frame Baking Christmas Cheer and attached it again on sticky fixers and added a chipboard sticker. Then I added a square photo by the side. For the following page I created a large tag and made a pocket for the bottom of it into which I added a photo  and a tag which again I journaled on.

To embellish the pocket  I used a sticker from the 12×12 sticker sheet and a cute Gingerbread perspextive which I had from Bramblefox. I used a tab punch and created a side tab which I stapled on to help with turning the page.

On the reverse of the tag page I added a 3×4 element card from the cut apart sheet and added a few stickers to it.

The following page was another 3×4 journal card with the Mrs Claus kitchen fussy cut from the 2×2/4×4 elements paper. I used another 6×4 cut apart for the next page and cut around the jars and bowls so  I could tuck the photo in behind, I embellished the page with stickers and chipboard stickers.

On the back of this I added a photo showing a glimpse of all the gingerbread houses and used my final gingerbread house perspextives again from Bramblefox to embellish.

I wanted to show each of the kids with their gingerbread houses so I used a strip of the tags and added a couple of extras to them and folded them back and forwards to fold up. I threaded string through the top and added a gingerbread man at each end from the gingerbread bits and pieces. I created another pocket on the bottom of the 6×4 paper and popped the tags inside. I added mini pompoms along the bottom of the pocket along with a piece of washi tape and then punched a lace border across the top, along with a garland sticker.

The back of this page I embellished with chipboard stickers , a decorative brad and a 3×4 element card. Now i was onto the last page and again I had multiple photos of each gingerbread house  which wanted to document. I cut a piece of white card just bigger than 6×4″and then cut two strips 12×4′ deep, I scored them at 3″ and then glued the centre parts together creating an extra page effectively. I stuck these to the back of the white card and added a tab to each to open them up with, I sewed a button on each side and added bakers twine to tie them with to stop the sides flapping open. I attached all the photos and some embellishments in between.

For the back cover I used paper from the6x8 paper pad and embellished with stickers from the main 12×12 sticker sheet. I didn’t add anything with dimension as I wanted to keep the back cover flat .

To recap, I used red rings to attached all the pages together and tied coloured ribbon around each one as decoration, i also added a couple of metal charms and a 2021 persepxtive from Bramblefox.

I really loved making this little book and is the perfect memory of many years of making gingerbread houses. the Simple Stories Baking Spirits bright Collection was so perfect for this project, but could also be used for any Christmas layouts .
