Giant Flamingo Scrapbook Layout – Simple Stories – Pink Lemonade – Wendy Meffan
Some bucket list moments come in unexpected ways, and these fun flamingo statues in Aruba were the perfect playful photo opportunity to document. For this layout, I used the Simple Stories Pink Lemonade Collection, which couldn’t have been more fitting. The bright pinks and cheerful reds in the collection echo the vibrant flamingo tones and instantly give the page a sunny, tropical feel.
The design centres on two main photos placed side by side, allowing the flamingo statues and beautiful Aruba backdrop to take centre stage. Keeping the photos together creates a strong focal point while leaving room to layer and embellish around them.
To frame the photos, I built embellishment clusters above and below the images rather than along the sides. Layered tags in coordinating pinks and reds are tucked just above the top edges and repeated beneath the photos to create balance. Slightly offsetting the tags and popping a few up with foam adhesive adds dimension and visual interest. A bit of twine threaded through the tag holes adds texture and enhances that relaxed vacation vibe.
Small embellishment clusters—florals, icons, and sweet sentiment phrases—are sprinkled above and below the photos to tie everything together. The result is a bright, dimensional layout that perfectly captures a fun Aruba memory and checks another experience off the bucket list.
For even more depth, I edged the sides of layout with torn paper strips from the collection. Mixing patterns around the border adds movement, while the torn edges soften the clean lines of the design. Slightly lifting some of the strips creates gentle shadows that give the page a full, layered look without feeling too busy.
