Get Fruity with Summer Stash

Hello Magpies, it’s Julie back again with you today. As I write this, it’s not at all sunny, so hopefully I can bring some sunshine in with my layouts! I have mixed together a few of the summer lines including: Pink Paislee – Citrus Bliss, Simple Stories – Summer Vibes, Crate Paper – Poolside & some Dear Lizzy – Fine & Dandy, and a few bits besides. I got quite inspired by all this stash, and ended up doing five layouts, so sorry for the photo heavy post!
I was really loving all the fruity colours and images in the pack, so my first layout really went with it. ‘Zest for Life’ is just what it says on the tin, a very zesty layout! I smooched a piece of white card stock with different mists and added splatter. I cut out some lemon and lime slices on my Silhouette, backed them with paper out of the 6×6 Citrus Bliss paper pad, stuck them to my layout, and sewed circles around them to give some texture to the page. I made a photo cluster out of the 6×6 pad and added one of the 4×4 Instagram Cards to it, and a few chipboard shapes. I finished the page with my favourite Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine Sprinkles.

My next layout, ‘What a Whopper’, is a picture of my youngest holding an ice cream from Disney in Florida, and it was as big as her head!! I used the Crate Paper Poolside for this, and chose all the lovely ice creamy shades of paper. I tore and curled the edge of the Pool Time paper that I chose for my background, did the same to some white card stock and pleated some light blue crete paper. I then added all of this to some pale pink card stock. I used some texture paste through a couple of the misting stencils from the Amy Tan – Rise & Shine collection, the ward one and a triangle one, and again smooched over them with some mists in varying colours. The words didn’t stand out too well so I went around the edge of them with a gold pen. I made a photo cluster using the 6×6 paper pad, some packaging and some blue tissue paper, and popdotted my photo on top. To the right of the photo I clustered a number of the ephemera die cuts and added my title and a date below that. I finished it with a chipboard die cut from Dear Lizzy – Fine & Dandy, and word stickers off the journalling and title accent stickers.

My next two layouts are using the very lovely simple stories: summer vibes collection. For the first one sun’s up…shades on I’d seen many people using this background paper, shine on paper and wondered how I could use it differently. I knew i didn’t want to cut it up as it’s too nice, so I came up with the idea of using die-cut large pair of sunglasses. I cut them out on my silhouette and inked them and backed them with some coloured vellum. I then stitched the sun rays with some gold thread and put the glasses on top. Again I used the 6×6 paper pad to make a photo cluster and added all manner of die cuts and chipboard pieces to it. I added a frame and a few of the word stitches for the 12×12 expressions stickers and finished it off with some Heidi Swapp gold colourshine, this has to be my favourite colour and I’m now on my third bottle!!

My second summer vibes layout is a bit of a change for me, I started out by cutting out the word selfies and backed it with the oh hello paper and then hand stitched all around the edge. I then added a number of frames, some backed with paper and some with photos, to the top of the layout and added a few bits of washi and die cut pieces and chipboard and a few words off the 12×12 expressions stickers.

If you’re still with me 🙂 My final layout is back to being fruity with all the pineapple images the are around. I started by cutting out 3 pineapples on my silhouette in gold and backed them with cardstock. I then layered together some papers from websters: these are the days – essentials lines and essentials scissors with a blue stripe by Dear Lizzy fine and dandy – stay awesome. Down to the left hand side I pleated some gold crepe paper, some yellow cardstock and a stripe of dear lizzy fine and dandy – cheerful chatter paper. I sewed in black around the page and added a few bits of washi tape to that. I made up a photo cluster of papers and added some 4×4 instagram cards from pink pailslee citrus bliss and a couple of dear lizzy fine and dandy – metal rimmed tags. I finished off with some gold splatters, gold foil dots from Heidi Swapp – Hello beautiful planner – Gold foil chipboard shapes and a pink plastic bow from Dear Lizzy fine and dandy.
