Garden Party Coptic Book | Jo Boland

Well April has absolutely flown by! I’m back with my second project of the month using the Maggie Holmes Garden Party collection for Hey Little Magpie. (You can find my previous makes with the collection here.) This time I decided to make a coptic bound mini book, I haven’t made one for a while. I used the We R Memory Keepers book binding kit, mine was the special Pink Paislee Paige Evans edition. It’s no longer in stock in the shop, but I’m sure there’s several of you who have them, or if you don’t then a paper piercing tool and needle will suffice!

I began by cutting two pieces of cardboard to 4.5 inches square (the front and back cover). Adhering the Happy Growing paper on the outside covers and the Taking Notes paper on the inside. The inside pages were made from eight patterned papers cut to 9 x 4.5 inches, two pieces of the Rose Bush speciality vellum paper and four pieces of smooth white cardstock cut to the same size. These created four signatures for the inside of the book. I stitched them together following tutorial videos available on YouTube, because I couldn’t remember how to do it without jogging my memory.

This is what the blank coptic bound book looked like before I decorated it.

[Note – I’ve not photographed every page] The added a tassel charm from the collection during the binding process.

I used a range of the products from the Garden Party collection by Maggie Holmes, puffy stickers, ephemera, sticker book, puffy thickers and chipboard accent stickers. The cardstock stickers would be great for this type of book, unfortunately they weren’t available when I placed my order. I also used the Taking Notes paper and the Garden Stroll paper to get journaling cards and labels from.

In addition to the collection pieces, I also used letter stickers by Elle’s Studio in pink, light teal and white. Plus some wide washi tape from my stash to join fold out photos together, this is hidden underneath the photos.

I decided to use the book to showcase my floristry designs and makes. This little book can come with me to events for people to flip through and see what I can do. [Note – I have left some spreads out because there were just so many!]

Thank you so much for stopping by. We’d love to see what you create with the lovely Maggie Holmes Garden Party collection, please do share on our Facebook chat and inspiration group.

I’ll see you next month with the Echo Park collection ‘A Slice of Summer’.
