Fun at the Beach – Simple Stories – Retro Summer – Wendy Meffan

Hi Magpies! It’s Wendy here  and I’m sharing  my third layout for August using Simple Stories Retro Summer Collection. I am loving all the colours in this collection which give a beautiful warm effect when used together.

I started this layout using stamps and distress oxides to create a mixed media background for the photos. I positioned the photos across the page and then used a tag from the 12×12 tag Elements paper to tuck behind the photos. I used the tag as a template to create a couple more in the colours  I wanted from paper in the collection to coordinate. I distressed their edges and added some waxed string .

To the left side of the layout I used the 12×12 Lazy Days paper and tore a vertical strip , I then tore  a second strip using the reverse side, and tucked it under the first strip. I roughed the edges and added sticky fixers under the edges to create more dimension to the layout. I used the 12×12 Happy Days paper and fussy cut all the elements from the lettered squares. I then distressed all the edges and arranged them vertically down the torn paper edge. I interspersed some of the stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet too.

Beneath the photos I added the Beach ephemera title from the Bits and Pieces  ephemera pack . I also made a cluster below having fussy cut the umbrella from the 12×12 Pool Rules paper.

Finally I used the large Fun sticker and added the Summer decorative brad to it as a title. I then used more decorative brads as embellishment across the layout.
