Flower child | Julie Taylor

Hello Magpies

I’ve been having a little play with the lovely collection Flower Child by Jen Hadfield & like the title says it’s all flowers, retro icons & bright sunny colours.

This layout started off with the large face piece!!! It’s actually a paper bag!!! Do you ever do that? see something which sparks an idea?

I’d gone out for a meal, with some friends, & they gave us some paper bags to take away the remaining food & this was the image on the side & I just knew it would make a great page.

I fussy cut out the image & then marked, on some thick white cardstock, the ‘rays’ coming from her hair & using scrap paper as a mask inked the ‘rays’ in different colours to match the collection.

I added some splatters of water to oxide the inks & hand stitching to separate the rays.

I’ve torn & curled 2 strips of Groovy Greenery paper using both sides & added them down the bottom & I’ve built my cluster, tucking in all the lovely bits, die cuts, puffy stickers & fussy cut icons finishing with the photos.

I placed my title above the girls head, in separate rays,  & outlined it with a grey fineliner pen for added impact. The finishing touch was a few of the mini embroidered flowers, a couple of the Hey Little Magpie exclusive flair & some threaded buttons along the bottom.

Thanks for joining me today. I’d love to know what sparks your creativity & what random items you add onto your layouts.

Until next time,
