Family Fun, Simple Stories | Julie Taylor
Hello Magpies, Julie back with you again today, sharing 2 layouts using the fab, vibrant Simple Stories Family Fun collection. It’s exactly what it says on the tin!!! a bright fun collection all about having fun with your family, gaming, movies, eating, just none stop FUN!!!
Movie Time
I love doing a layout on black cardstock as I think it really makes the page pop & this one certainly did!! The bright, vibrant colours just jump off the page & scream FUN!!!
I started by dry brushing some turquoise acrylic paint onto the black cardstock & adding some splatters, to give me an area in which to build my page. I already knew I wanted a vertical design so added it straight down the centre.
I then built up my page, starting with the cinema tickets at the top, with the popcorn jumping out & coming down the page, in a vertical column but adding out to the sides in 3 areas.
I like to group the ephemera together & layer it on top of each other to tell the story. The 2 tabs, that have circle stickers on are cut from an Elle’s Studio die, which was mega cheap but a great staple in your stash & will be used over & over.
Where the 2 papers meet, in the middle, I linked them together for some added texture.
my title came from a sticker, from the sticker book & some cork scrabble tiles, out my stash.
FUN!
My second layout is just aptly called fun, as that’s what my children were having!!! I’ve had these photos for ever!! (my kids are now 24 & 22) so they have been printed a while & deserved to be scrapped & this was the perfect collection to do it with.
As both the girls are in a ball pit I thought the only way to go was with circles! I started on some Kraft cardstock, a good contrast to the bright colours, & added some texture paste through a circle stencil, leaving it white. I then die cut lots of circles, in different sizes out of patterned paper, & inked the edges.
I cut my 2 photos into circles & backed them in black & added them in the centre & then placed all the other circles off from there, going from top to bottom but also weaving across the page.
I’ve added an abundance of ephemera, on top of the circles & my title comes from the 6×12 foam stickers.
This collection was a joy to work with & these pages came together so easily. Pop on over to the store to take a look at the whole collection.
Until next time,
