Extra Large Wedding Photos!
Hi everyone, it’s Rachel here again and this time I’m using extra large photos and the absolutely awesome new line from Crate Paper, Notes & Things. I just adore this line, the subtle colours, the touches of gold and all the embellishments are just lush! If anything is out of stock in the shop and you really need it, do use the contact me when back in stock link because I think there are more re-stocks on the way 😉
I have done 5 LO’s using extra large photos, they’re all of a friends wedding and going in to the same album, so they do all look similar, I wanted them to flow. These LO’s are all on white cardstock backgrounds, I always use American Crafts white because it’s super white. I did struggle to photograph the LO’s I’m sorry, the weather hasn’t been on my side but they are all the same white background!
All the photos I’m using are 12×8″ prints from Photobox. Some of them I trimmed a little bit.
My first LO was actually the hardest! It’s so simple but the photo is just so stunning that I had to keep it simple to showcase it. I started off using the chipboard ‘today is the day’ sticker from the 12×12 sheet of chipboard shapes. I stuck this on to some acetate so I could decide where it should go. And then I pfaffed about for days before I made a decision and actually stuck it down! I’ve also used a really old Heidi Swapp chipboard heart which I’ve been hoarding for years. I have used a few on these LO’s, to help tie them together. I’ve also used some glitter tape on all of them, again, to help create a link between them all. I used some old American Crafts glitter tape which I cut into thinner strips and there’s a similar product in the Jen Hadfield Home + Made range here. I also dug out some old strips of white pearls to echo the pearls in Phoebe’s hair decoration and dotted along the top of the photo with liquid pearls.
So a great way to showcase a really stunning large photo is to keep the embellishments super simple. Don’t over do it and the photo will shine.
My second LO I have echoed the glitter tape strip across the top and bottom of the photo. Then I’ve created a cluster of embellishments. I started with a gold doily which I made myself by spraypainting a white doily but these days, they come already made for you here! Then I just layered up using a tag from the Notes & Things Mixed Tag pack, bits and bobs from the Ephemera Pack, the large 2 card is from the Journalling Card pack and the butterfly sticker is from the Standouts Layered Stickers pack. I can’t say enough about the embellishments in the Notes & Things line, they’re all just amazing. The Journalling cards are super lush and the tags are so special. I will be buying extra packs of both of these because they’re so amazing, I need more! Also, I’ve used some of the Gold Glitter Dot Stickers from the Jen Hadfield Home + Made collection. These are a staple in my book, they’re so versatile and there’s so many in one pack! Everyone needs these in their stash!
I loved this next photo so much, of Phoebe going down the stairs and her Dad’s mouth dropping open when he sees her. It’s fab! I’ve used some wood veneer on this one, Studio Calico hearts like these ones and I used some American Crafts Zazz glitter glue on them. I also used the gold chevrons from the 12×12 Sticker Sheet and added a layer of glitter glue to them as well, so they would match the hearts. Then I used a layered clipboard from the Standouts Layered Stickers sheet as the main embellishment. The 3 word strips below the hearts are from the 12×12 Memo Paper which I chopped up. I’ve also added some word and phrase stickers from various sheets, down the bottom right hand side of the photo. The pink ones are the Studio Calico Brighton Pier Tiny Type stickers, the yellow ones are Studio Calico Wanderlust Vellum Stickers and the black ones are some old My Minds Eye ones. The yellow vellum ones didn’t show up well enough when I put them straight on my photo, so I did stick them to white cardstock and cut around so they would stand out more. I love using these type of stickers in a vertical row on the side of a photo, it always looks cute. I also added another precious Heidi Swapp chipboard heart to help tie the LO’s together. I really hope Heidi produces something like those hearts again one day!
Next LO and I’ve just created another cluster of embellishments for this one. I used a frame from the Chipboard Frames pack, some bits and bobs from the Ephemera Pack, a butterfly from the Standouts Layered Stickers pack and a tag from the Mixed Tags pack and just layered everything up. I also used the other half of the doily I used on the second LO and another Heidi Swapp heart (OMG, stop this recklessness, I may run out!!!!). A few more stickers from Studio Calico’s Bright Pier Tiny Type Stickers and we’re good to go.
For my last LO I struggled a bit because I truly love this photo! Honestly, all the photos from this wedding are stunning but this one is my absolute favourite and I pfaffed about for ages trying to do it justice. In the end I just had to start sticking things down or I would have been there forever lol! I’m sure you all know what I mean. Those special or favourite photos can be so hard to scrap sometimes. I followed the same formula as above and used the glitter tape, Heidi Swapp hearts and made a cluster of embellishments with various items from the Tags & Ephemera packs. I used an offcut of the 12×12 Noted paper (the stripes) which I also used in the second LO above. I used a couple of the rub-ons from the Rub-Ons pack just under the photo. Again, I used some glitter glue on some wood veneer hearts and the ampersand is from the Notes & Things Ephemera pack there’s not just cardstock items in that pack, there’s vellum and wood veneer too! It’s so worth buying. The glossy gold ‘hello’ speech bubble comes from the 12×12 Adhesive Cardstock Shape sheet and seriously, I wish they’d produce a sheet of these on their own, I could use it again and again!
So I hope this gives you an idea of how well the Crate Paper Notes & Things line works and how lush the embellishments are. Seriously, you can just throw them all together and it looks amazing! I can not recommend the pack of Journalling Cards, Mixed Tags and Ephemera enough, there’s so much in each pack they’ll last for ages and so much to chose from. And if you’re working on a series of LO’s from one event, like a wedding, why not think about printing some of the photos extra large? And use a few elements like glitter tape or wood veneer through the LO’s and it will tie them together and create a theme through your album.
