Elle’s Studio Part 2 | Jo Boland

Jo back here again with more projects using Elle’s Studio products. (You can find my first blog post here.) This time I have a super simple, but super cute ‘Movies in 2020’ mini-book and a scrapbook layout. Let’s begin with the mini-book!

Movies in 2020 Mini-book

My inspiration came from the Movie Time 3×4 Journaling Tags and a mini-book I made years ago called READ which documented the books I’d read.

For the covers of my new mini-book I cut two pieces of 3×4″ kraft cardstock. The front is covered in a 3×4″ piece of Tis the Season paper from Heidi Swapp’s Winter Wonderland collection (I left the manufacturer strip on the top, hence the stripes). A smaller piece of Paige Evans Truly Grateful Paper No 13 is torn and layered on top. The gold 2020 is by Elle’s Studio as are the puffy stars. The letter stickers are from my stash, but these ones from Elle’s Studio would be a perfect alternative. The ‘Remember’ Tab and the ‘for the record’ are by Ali Edwards and can be found in this pack here.

I’ve used the same dotty paper on the first page as I used for the front cover. I added a label (Ali Edwards from my stash, but this Elle’s Studio pack has an alternative label), a puffy star and some writing.

And here’s those fab journaling cards. I simply filled in the details on the card and searched for the movie poster online. I printed these approximately 3×4″ and stuck it to the back of the next Movie Time card. I’ve filled in the star rating with a gold pen.

On the next spread is the next film we plan to see, but as yet we’ve not seen it so I’ve not filled it out. I used my crop-a-dile hole punch to punch holes and used a book ring from my stash to hold it all together.

Right Now ‘You’ Scrapbook Layout

My final project on the month using the Elle’s Studio products is a scrapbook layout. I took inspiration from the journaling cards to document a TV series my husband and I are enjoying watching right now.

The white acrylic words are from this ‘Life Right Now’ pack, I used Glossy Accents to adhere it. The main paper I’ve used is Vicki Boutin’s Wildflower & Honey ‘Field of dreams’ paper. The darker patterned paper beneath is also from that collection but no longer in stock, but black cardstock could be used. I’ve used American Crafts white textured cardstock for the background.

I again searched for the TV series poster online and printed it out 4×6″ with a white border. I’ve layered this on top of the Heidi Swapp paper I used for the mini-book, this is the other side. The ‘Currently Watching’ journaling cards are by Elle’s Studio, as are those puffy stars (link above).

I cut the main paper at a slant as well as the ‘YOU’ white thickers, offsetting the top and bottom. This was to copy the title on the TV poster. The thickers are from my stash. Finally, I splattered some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide spray in Peacock Feathers diagonally across the page. This was to match the accent colour on the poster and the puffy stars.

Elle’s Studio make such great products for documenting everyday life. There are also journaling cards for books, the weather and stories, go check them out here and the full product selection in store here. You can find my first Elle’s Studio blog post here where I share a desk calendar and a December 2019 scrapbook page.

Thanks so much for stopping by, see you next month!
