Echo Park – Witches & Wizards | Jackie Ashton

Hi crafters, Jackie here with my 1st blogpost for this month.  When I saw that the new collection from Echo Park – Witches & Wizards – which is Harry Potter themed and has just  arrived in the shop, I knew I just had to use if this month.

I’ve scrapped Harry Potter layouts previously, but this is the first time I’ve scrapped using a themed collection.

For this blogpost I decided to use one sketch and see how it would look different by turning it around or changing the sizes of the photographs.  I got the idea from an on-line class run by Shimelle, and felt it such a great way to kick start a layout.

So I choose this sketch from PageMaps – July 2020

A very simply format but one you can easily added details to or just take elements to suit how your craft.

Whats Your House Name ?

So using the above sketch, I kept to the same design and as I was following a sketch the layout came together very quickly.

I added some inked detailed through the stencil down the right hand side of the cardstock.

I the cut a 4 inch strip from Magical Hat paper, and added a punched border strip to the bottom of this strip before adhering it to my cardstock.

Using patterned papers to matt my photographs, and added 3D foam to the photo on the left to give it some dimension.

The journalling card from from Elle’s Studio.

I finished the layout using cut-apart pieces, die-cuts and stickers.

For the title I used thickers from my stash.

Seek the Magic in Every Day

I decided to turn my layout around and have the strip down the lefthand side of the cardstock.

Again I cut a 4 inch strip from Something Magical paper and added a punched border down the side, and added it to my cardstock.

Using the same format I matted my photos with various patterned papers, adding 3d Foam to the right hand photo to give it dimension, and adhered to my page.

Finishing my layout with cut-apart pieces, die-cuts and stickers.

I ended up cutting this label as it was too long and it fitted better on this banner.

I added some stamps images using a few from  Elle’s Studio Everyday Phases stamp sets.

And as I was looking thought my stamps sets, I noticed that this Summer Fun Set had a pair sunglasses image that fit perfectly to use on my layout.

I love how these two layouts came together so quickly and using a sketch was a big help.

Both these layouts will be in different parts of my Harry Potter album so I’m not concerned about them looking similar in design.

So why not give the idea of using a sketch and making several layout from that one sketch, but turning the sketch around to suit your photographs, or even finding an element from the sketch eg the 4 inch strip of patterned paper and use that feature on your pages.

We would love to see your layouts over in our Facebook group, please share.

Thanks for stopping by,

Till next time

Happy scrapping
