Echo Park | Welcome Baby Boy | Giselle Homer
Hello again Magpies, I hope you’re all well and looking forward to Spring and some warmer weather at last!
This month I have been working with a new collection from Echo Park called ‘Welcome Baby Boy’. There are lots of cute and fun elements in this collection which is not only for babies but toddlers too.
Thomas

The first layout began by dividing the base cardstock into nine 4” squares. Then I glued nine 3.5” squares of plain blue cardstock into place. Nine 3” squares of patterned papers were glued on top of the blue cardstock. All the squares were distressed on the edges and I deliberately didn’t make them straight as I didn’t want the overall look to be too formal.

I hand stitched a grid between the squares using four strands of embroidery floss in blue and red to match the colours in the photo.
Each square was embellished with lots of ephemera, stickers and fussy cut pieces from the collection. Some were raised using foam dots and to keep a fun element I let some embellishments overlap the squares.
I placed the photo in the centre square and added the baby’s name in the square to the right of his photo using an alphabet from my own stash.
Time to Celebrate
In contrast to the baby layout my second page celebrates a 12th birthday!
I began by tearing a strip from the top of the yellow stars paper and replaced it with the tartan paper.
Using tags and die cut pieces from the ephemera pack I made a banner. I glued that to the top left of the page using some twine to loop through the holes.
I backfilled a cut file with patterned paper and glued it on the lower part of the page.
The photo was backed with white card and one patterned paper. It was embellished it with a die cut edge and some gold elements from my own stash. I placed it slightly under the edges of the cutfile.
Adding a couple of wool tassels from my own stash gave the layout some texture. I finished it with two hearts and tags from the ephemera pack.
I’ll be back later in the month with two more layouts. Until then, happy scrapping everyone!
