Echo Park Papers – Mouse & Me | Jackie Ashton
Hi Jackie here, this month’s challenge over at Hey Little Magpie is all about creating a layout using a grid pattern, and I couldn’t resist joining in! I decided to use the adorable Mouse & Me collection from Echo Park Papers.
To start, I reached for the 6×6 paper pad and cut a selection of different patterns into squares. For each section of the grid, I layered two contrasting patterned papers together, which adds a bit more depth and interest without overwhelming the design. I love how this technique lets you showcase lots of the collection in one layout!
I kept my photograph at a standard 6×4 size and positioned it so the grid of squares could frame it nicely across the page.
For the base, I trimmed my white cardstock down to 11.5 inches, distressed the edges for a slightly worn, textured look, and mounted it onto the B-side of the Mouse Sweetheart paper. That subtle background really helps the grid pop.
Each square became its own little embellishment cluster. I used a mix of die cuts, stickers, and puffy stickers to decorate them, keeping everything balanced but still varied so your eye moves around the page. I also added some of the Hey Little Magpie wood word strips, which bring in a lovely natural element and a bit of dimension.
To finish things off, I embellished on the photo with a few extra stickers and puffy stickers, tying everything together without overcrowding the focal point.
This was such a fun way to use a smaller paper pad or even scraps of the larger patterned papers.
