Echo Park – A Slice of Summer – Part 2 | Jo Boland
Hey there, it’s Jo back with another round of inspiration using the Echo Park summer collection ‘A Slice of Summer’. This time I have two scrapbook layouts to share and a cute mini book waiting to be filled with summer 2021 memories. You can find my first blog post this month with two scrapbook layouts here.
Scrapbook Layout 1 – Fresh Picked Payment
For this layout I used the lovely b-side from the 4×4″ Journaling Cards paper and the gingham scalloped border sticker from the 12×12″ Element Stickers. I popped the whole of the scalloped border sticker on foam pads to act like a shelf. I’ve used a piece of white cardstock cut down to 8.5″ x 11″, a size I used to favour scrapbooking.
The middle photo is popped up on foam pads as this photo was my detailed shot. I added a chipboard watering can accent piece to the bottom left of the photo and stickers to the top left and bottom right. Some of the stickers I popped up with foam pads to give some added dimension. The strawberries and the ‘fresh picked’ banner at the top of the photos have been fussy cut from the main paper. The letter stickers and the label are from Elle’s Studio in light teal and go perfectly with this collection. I would have chosen a different title but I had run out of R’s. Finally I added a few green enamel dots from the collection pack to the layout.
Scrapbook Layout 2 – So Sweet
For this layout, I again cut down a piece of white cardstock to 8.5×11″. I used the lovely ice cream paper which is the b-side to the multi journaling cards paper. Below this paper is the wooden b-side of the Hello Summer Floral paper (my favourite paper from the collection). I added two strips of the Summertime paper, one at the top and one at the bottom.
I’ve used two chipboard pieces on the layout, an ice cream cart at the bottom and a striped tab at the top. The ice creams are a mixture of stickers and fussy cut pieces from the main paper, most of which are popped up on foam pads. The butterfly, dragonfly, ‘chill out’, flowers and title are all stickers from the 12×12″ element sticker sheet. I popped up the title to make it stand out. The label is from Elle’s Studio and the enamel dots are from the ‘A Slice of Summer’ collection.
A Slice of Summer Mini-book
The inspiration behind the mini book was the chipboard frames pack.
Each frame is backed with smooth white cardstock and adhered on three side with a thin piece of double sided tape. The top edge is left open so I can slip a photo in later. I made a front and back cover using cardboard I’d saved from packaging, covering it in patterned paper and cardstock.
I cut pieces of patterned paper for internal pages, trimming them to the same size as the previous frame pocket. All the patterned paper is from the 6×6″ paper pad. I used the smallest frame to dictate where I would punch the holes for the book rings. I used my WRMK Crop-a-dile for this (mine isn’t in stock, but this one is a new alternative. Throughout the mini-book I added chipboard pieces from the frame pack and the chipboard accent sheet, plus enamel dots. The 2021 numbers on the front are from the Elle’s Studio alphabet sticker pack.
Here’s a look through it all ready to be filled with summer memories…
