Dinner at Ivy Asia – 49 & Market Vicki Boutin Curiosities in Willow Grove – Wendy Meffan
A family celebration always calls for something special, and my birthday meal at Ivy Asia in Chelsea was the perfect occasion to create a layout full of colour, texture, and joy. Using 49 and Market Vicki Boutin Curiosities of Willow Grove collection, I wanted to capture the elegant yet lively atmosphere of the evening — the glowing lights, beautiful décor, and those happy moments shared around the table.
For this design, I chose five photos and arranged them in a clean horizontal strip across the centre of the page. This format created a strong focal point, making the photos the heart of the layout while allowing space to play with layers and embellishments. I mixed in tags from the cut-apart sheet, laser-cut ephemera, journaling bits, and foliage elements to build dimension and flow. By embellishing both above and below the photos, I achieved a balanced, cohesive look that feels polished yet full of movement. To ground the design, I created a lower border using a wide cluster of layered embellishments. This added a touch of visual weight to the bottom of the page, enhancing the overall composition.
I created a small cluster in the top right corner to add balance too the layout using the laser cut foliage and a tab from the laser cut elements.
As a finishing touch, I added the wooden This Was Awesome embellishment by Hey Little Magpie, which perfectly summed up the spirit of the day. It added a lovely natural texture and became the ideal sentiment for such a joyful celebration.
What I loved most about this layout was experimenting with a completely different colour palette from my first project using this collection. The alternative tones brought a fresh, modern twist that suited the sophisticated setting of Ivy Asia — deep jewel shades mixed with softer hues that echoed the restaurant’s luxurious interiors. This page truly shows how versatile the Curiosities of Willow Grove collection can be.
