December Album Base Pages using Crate Paper FaLaLa
Hi there! Niki here with you today and I’m sharing the first part of my December album. I really enjoy documenting December each year, in fact I bought all my supplies back in August becuase I was so excited!
I’m using a Simple Stories 6×8 album and everything else is Crate Paper FaLaLa. I do have a few other bits from older previous collections too but the majority is FaLaLa.
I loved FaLaLa the moment I saw it, it mixes traditional colours (which I don’t usually like) with modern colours (which I love) with a touch of cutesy, oh and some gold (my favourite).
This is opening page:
The way I approach my December album usually, is to make base pages. This can be an alien concept to many but it works so well for me. You’ll notice that my layouts just have clusters on part of the page so there’s plenty of places to put my photo(s) when I print them, and most of the time it won’t matter what orientation my photos turn out to be. I used to include photo mounts but got myself into all sorts of bother that way, so this ‘cluster’ method works much better.
To begin with I cut up all my patterned papers and white card and insert them into my page protectors. I also work on the basis of a white card background on the left and a patterned paper background on the right.
I also have to figure out how to make my numbers. This is the third time I’ve used these Wood Chip numbers by Freckld Fawn – they are so perfect and easy to use! I back each one with patterned paper or glitter paper and then nothing else is required. Last year I cut different numbers on my Silhouette which worked well but this year I have gone back to the wooden circles.
I then simply go through, page by page, creating little (big!!) clusters but trying to leave plenty of room for photos and journaling.
I really enjoy this process. Its easy scrapping and the pages come together very quickly. It totally takes the stress out of creating a December album during the busy month of December as all I have to do is print my photos and stick them in!
Thanks so much for joining me today and well done if you are still reading after all those photos!
