December Album Part 1 | Jingle All the Way | Morag Cutts

Hi there mapgies.  Can you believe it’s almost Christmas already? The time is whizzing by so quickly.  I have been preparing an album for December and Christmas. I feel rather behind evens as I guess many people will be filling theirs in by now.  However, I do think it will be nice to be able to stick in photos and memories when there is a little more time.

I am preparing a 8×10″ Simple Stories album this year.  I had made one for last year which I really enjoyed – small enough so that it is easy to finish but big enough to hold your memories. The Jingle All the Way collection by Simple stories has a great mix of fun designs and lots of patterns to choose from.

Pages 2 & 3

Te 6×8″ Jingle All the Way paper pad is the perfect size which made it very quick to prepare my pages. I also sprinkled in some Vintage North Pole also from Simple Stories.

As I don’t know the sizes of photos, I kept the page spreads quite simple, allowing space for a main photo.  Rather than empty pages, I clustered my embellishments around the edges of the photo mats.  I layered stickers from the sticker book – there are a whopping 12 pages of stickers!

On the right hand side, the Vintage North Pole chipboard frames is so pretty.  I was inspired by the layering on the chipboard to create additional layers of my own. I love how this page turned out.  The frame is not attached on the right so I can add a 4×6″ photo later.

Pages 4 & 5

I created a pocket to hold ephemera, photos or journaling. I cut a sheet of paper at an angle and then taped it on 3 sides to make a pocket. I stuck it to the back of my base page before sticking the background pages together to make them nice and sturdy.

I fussy cut this Santa design from one of the patterned papers and added cut little presetns as though they had fallen out of the sleigh.

On page 5 I created a border using patterned papers and stickers.  The green velvet ribbon came from packaging on a candle – it is always worth looking out for good packaging at this time of year!

Pages 6 & 7

The main red and black buffalo check paper is actually a pocket on page 6.  Again, I will be able to store more photos or ephemera. I decorated the top with stickers and papers – again taking inspiration from the collection.

Page 7 – I cut out simple triangles from patterned paper to form Christmas trees.  I drew in ‘tree trunks’ and added gold stars from my stash.  As the pages are sewn together, I left the top of this page open and notched out a circle using a punch.  This will hold more ephemera if needed.  I was thinking about storing my Christmas cake recipe in the ablum.

Pages 8 & 9

Page 8 – another simple pocket made from patterned paper.  I added stickers to the pocket.  The tags are cut from the cut apart tag sheet.

Page 9 – To change things about a little, this page has a pocket which was created by folding over the front sheet vertically.  Rather than sticking down the folded layer, I have only stuck it into place at the top and bottom.  This allows me to tuck in the little pocket album.  I can also tuck more photos into the main pocket too.

Pocket Album – I used the 3×4″ cut out cards in the paper pade to make the album.  I have stuck the cards together to make a fun little album.

This has been a fun little project – I’m sure I’ll add more embellishments as I start to fill it.

Be sure to pop back later in the month to see more!  Thank you so much for popping in.
