Creations with Embroidery Hoops

Hey Magpies! Welcome to November. I am very glad to see the back of October, it’s not been a good month for me at all. I hope we can all have a wonderful November! This month I decided to do something with the Embroidery Hoops that are available in the shop. I think these are a great idea for creating a different and interesting present for someone. I made one earlier this year for the blog using the MME Meow collection and have it dispayed on a wall now but you can easily display an embroidery hoop on an easel as well.

I decided to do the same for my first LO this month and used a 10″ Embroidery Hoop. I used some linen type fabric I had in my stash and stretched that in the hoop. I just cut around the edges really roughly cause I don’t mind it looking a bit messy like that. I can not take credit for the border on this LO, I have seen many examples of similar borders online lately, it seems to be quite trendy! I sewed around and around in a circle and then added some Amy Tangerine, Hustle & Heart, Wool Pom Pom Stickers as well as some tiny little pom poms and sequins from the Maggie Holmes, Carousel, Mixed Small Embellishments Pack. I also added in some resin flowers from my stash too.
The rest of the LO is pretty simple. I layered up some papers from the Maggie Holmes, Carousel Collection and some word stickers from the Maggie Holmes, Chasing Dreams, Phrase Stickers sheet. The title is from Pinkfresh Studios and my big bow is Maggie Holmes, Carousel, Fabric Bows and I just love those bows, they’re the perfect statement size and of course, I’m always a sucker for black & white stripes!

My next LO I used a 5″ Embroidery Hoop straight on to a normal LO. Of course, this won’t work on a LO you’re going to put in an album because it is quite bulky but I will probably display this LO on an easel in my craft room so it’s all good. I took the hoop apart and used some Washi Tape on the inside hoop. For my background I sprayed some white spray ink (similar here) over a plate so it made a nice border and then splattered some more around here and there. I filled some other wooden circles I had in my stash already, with papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studios, Bohemian Dream papers. I’ve used some Rubber Charms from Cocoa Vanilla, Wild at Heart, a couple of Exclusive HLM Flair Badges and some Puffy Heart Stickers from Crate Paper, Main Squeeze.

For my last LO I did another traditional LO with an embroidery hoop on it. I think I used a 6″ one here and they’re currently out of stock, but there are 4 inch and 6 inch in stock. I decorated my hoop with paint and my very favourite Nuvo Crystal Drops, Caribbean Ocean. I love that colour, it’s the best! I cut a big circle of patterned paper and stitched some crosses around the edge with embroidery thread. I dotted some more Caribbean Ocean dots and also doodled around the edge. My title uses one of the fantastic Dear Lizzy, Star Gazer, Large White Chipboard Words. These words are awesome, you definitely need them in your stash, they’re huge! A real statement title and they’re smooth white chipboard so you can customise them as you wish. I painted mine with acrylic paint and then put Glossy Accents on top to make it shiny. My smaller word is a Freckled Fawn one which I painted and Glossy Accented too, there’s some similar words here. I used another of the Fabric Bows because they’re so cool.

I think Embroidery Hoop artwork would make a fantastic Christmas present if you’re looking for ideas. They’re something a little bit different and unusual and I think they’re dead cool! If you would like to know what any other products I’ve used on my LO’s are and I haven’t listed it here, please leave a comment on the Facebook Inspiration Group and I will let you know. We have had to close comments on the blog for a little while as we’re being inundated with spam so if you want to know anything about any blog posts, just yell out on FB and one of the DT will get back to you there.
