Creating with Storyteller – Vicki Boutin | Sheena Rowlands
Hi there Magpies, Sheena here again.
Today I’m sharing with you 2 totally different layouts using the Storyteller range designed by Vicki Boutin for American Crafts. The variety of colours used attracted me to it plus its versatility to be used to scrap so many stories and photos.
57 Books Read !
This layout all started when I received an e mail from the GoodReads app to say I’d read/listened to 57 books in 2020! To be honest I was shocked and went on to check but they were right and I felt this really needed to be documented.
The First Draft patterned paper was an obvious place for me to start. Its a fabulous patterned paper but it did take me a little while to decide how I wanted this page to look as I didn’t want to ruin it! Unusually for me I sorted my title out first using book paper for the numbers and the Storyteller alphas.
Using the Stamp and die set I stamped some little butterflies onto the First Drat paper background using tonal colours, then I clear embossed the large butterflies on to kraft cardstock. To make the mini books I cut the large butterflies out on rectangles, folded them in half before adding some lines exercise paper inside each securing with a staple.
In these little books I have listed all 57 books I read!
To finish I added stitched lines as if the books were butterflies. Then added my journalling to the book pages on the background and added a small embellishment cluster.
Have you spotted there isn’t a photo? I really feel it doesn’t need one. I have a scrapbook process video for this page over on my YouTube channel if you would like to see how it came together.
Sweet Soul.
For my second page I decided to do a little fussy cutting and cut lots of flowers from the Fresh Cut and Daisies patterned papers, I tend to do this whilst listening to a book or watching TV.
Using Vicki Boutin foundation paper as my base. I took the flowery Radiate stencil and using yellow, pink and purple ink I added some delicate colour to the background.
I layered the photograph on patterned papers and journalling cards from the die cut packs before tucking lots of flowers in either side plus a few tags.
Using the tickets from the Plot patterned paper to anchor everything to the page, I then added a few touches of gold and some sticker words and phrases around the photo. I was so pleased with the delicate feel I achieved with this range.
I hope these inspire you to check out the Storyteller Collection by Vicki Boutin and we would love to see what you create over on our Facebook group.
Till next time x
