Crate Paper Busy Sidewalks | Jo Boland

Hello there, it’s Jo back to share more projects using the gorgeous Christmas collection from Crate Paper Busy Sidewalks. Last time I shared the album and foundation pages for my 2021 December Daily. This time I’m sharing a couple of festive layouts using photos from Christmas last year.

Busy Sidewalks Scrapbook Layout 1 – Make It Merry

One of my favourite things to do in December is to put the tree up and decorate it, Santa hats are obligatory! I used the Cozy Christmas paper (green plaid) from the 12 x 12 paper pad to create a border background. A trimmed down piece of cardstock with distressed edges was placed on top. On top of this are two papers, Holiday Glow (stripes) and Deck the Halls (baubles). The bauble paper is absolutely gorgeous!

I matted the photo on a piece of Christmas Cookies paper (green dot side) and tucked in a couple of tags cut from the Merry Merry paper. The Merry Merry tag is also cut from that paper and the journaling card is from the die-cut ephemera pack. The Make it Merry title is from the 6×12 cardstock sticker sheet.

The chipboard circle and these stunning glittered baubles are from the 12×12 chipboard sticker sheet. I’ve ‘hung’ them with gold thread and I’ve also used gold thread on my tags. Finally I added some splatters of gold ink from my stash.

Scrapbook Layout 2 – Merry Christmas

My second layout features lots of the chipboard stickers from the collection. I decided to document the writing of the Christmas cards last year and the chipboard stamps were perfect for it.

The title is a sticker from the 6×12 cardstock sticker sheet. I’ve used gold thread strung across the page and teal embroidery thread on the tags. The blue tag is actually a piece of the Deck the Halls paper cut into a tag. The photo is behind a 3×4 frame from 45 & Market and I’ve used tabs and a back piece from that pack too. I’ve used pieces of the Holiday Glow paper and Deck the Halls paper in the photo stack.

The Ho Ho Ho sticker is actually a piece of washi tape from the collection set. I’ve added a fir cone and sprig cardstock sticker under the tab. At the top right of the layout is a chipboard banner on which I’ve stuck a clear holly sticker from the collection sticker book. I’ve again added some gold ink splatters to the page. I also used texture paste through a star stencil under my central cluster. You can find lots of stencils here. and Vicki Boutin mixed media here.

November Challenge layout

I used the Busy Sidewalks collection for my example layout for the current November challenge. This month’s challenge is to use three photos on a layout and was set by my team mate Giselle. You have until midnight 30th November to enter, you could win 1000 Magpie points worth £10 to spend in the Hey Little Magpie store. Head over to our Facebook chat and inspiration group to enter, you’ll find the challenge album here.

Back to the layout. I used those fab photo frames by 45 & Market and Christmas Cookies (green side) paper for the background. I’ve used a trimmed down piece of Marshmallow cardstock on top. The heavyweight cardstock was great because I added lots of stitching on the layout, creating a wreath in gold thread.

The gold letter stickers are from the collection sticker book, as were the clear stickers – poinsettias, gold stars and fir branches. The other stickers raised on foam pads are from the 6×12 cardstock sticker sheet, the red border is washi tape from the collection set.

I added a splattering of gold and black ink from my stash around the wreath.

That’s it from me for this month using the Busy Sidewalks collection, but I’ll be back in December using mix of Christmas collections to make Christmas cards, plus an update on my December Daily.
