Cool Kid by Crate Paper
Hello Magpies, Jackie here with my layouts for this month. I’m using Crate paper – Cool Kid collections, and I love it. I mean who doesn’t like Crate paper collections.
I’ve done 3 layouts this month, using 3 photos of my son James, at different ages of his life, so that I hope you get the idea that this collection can be used for all ages.
My first one ‘ High Five’ James was about 6 years old here.
Using white cardstock as my base I cut a strip of the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Handsome paper using both side of this paper, and a strip of Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Adventure paper, which I struck to the top of the cardstock. After sticking down, I distressed the edges and added some machine zig-zag stitching to the top border, and added one of the fabric pennant flags.
I layered my photo with a selection of patterned papers from the Crate Paper – Cool Kid 6×6 pad and added two circles which I machined stitched around to add some texture.
I added some bits and pieces from the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Ephemera Cardstock pack, which also included some lovely printed acetate pieces.
I added some star shaped wood veneer, flair badges and enamel dots from my stash to finish the page.
For my 2nd layout, ‘My Boy’ – I used a photos that I’ve scrapped before of James when he was 15 and going into his final year of high school.
To start with I distressed the background with distressed inks that matched the papers I had using a selection of papers from the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – 6×6 pad – some simply layering, bits and pieces from the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Ephemera pack. I also added another one of the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Pennants Flags.
To finish the layout I added the title using the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Wood Veneer Thickers and some of the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Silver Resin Stars, and again using some wood veneer stars and enamel dots from my stash.
My final layout for this month, ‘Love This’ I steeped away from the ‘Cool Kid’ theme and went for a holiday/travel theme instead. I cut the title using my silhouette cameo using white cardstock, I got the title from Paige Taylor Evans. Then I backed each letter minus one which I used to add a photo of me and James from our recent trip to Barcelona.
I machined stitched around each letter, to give each letter some definition. I added some pieces from the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Ephemera pack, a pennant and some of the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Sliver Resin star.
I cut the word ‘adventure’ from a sheet from the 6×6 pad, and then decided for my title I wanted to give the Crate Paper – Cool Kid – Wood Veneer Thickers a bit of colour.
So I added stripes of washi tapes, embossing powder and heat embossed them, as my stitching was messy, I wanted the letters to have a messy look to them as well.
I also added a HLM Flair Badge
I hope you can find some inspiration from my layouts this month, and give this lovely collection a try.
Till next time, happy scrapping
