Colour & fun using WRMK Urban Chic!

Hey there Magpies! Welcome to September. I can’t believe it’s September already can you? This month I chose the Urban Chic  collection from WRMK. I got the whole entire collection so that was an exciting box to open!
One thing I wanted to mention, in case people have noticed already, yes, I scrap the same photos a lot. I struggle for photos to scrap so I use my favourites over and over again. I don’t have kids so I’m not scrapping to preserve memories for the future generations like most people. There’s nobody to take my albums when I’m gone, I solely scrap for me, for the creative process. That’s why I don’t journal a lot on LO’s either. I thought I would address that in case any blog readers are thinking hey, you used that photo last month! I’m very lazy at taking photos, I don’t really enjoy it so I do just use the same ones quite often. For me, scrapping is half about the shopping….. ok, maybe it’s a little more than half about the shopping (come on, we all love the shopping don’t we!) and the rest about making the page.
I threw this first LO together the same day that I opened my box of goodies and it’s pretty unusual for me to use a patterned paper as a background, yet I’ve done it 2, nearly 3 times with this collection! I added in a paper from the Crate, Cute Girl collection, Rainbows. This colourful striped paper goes really well with Urban Chic and it’s awesome, I’ve ordered 4 sheets of it, it’s definitely going to be one of my new favourites! The colours are lush. I added a couple of bits from the ephemera pack and a couple of the layered tags. I must also say, I found the kissy lips in the Urban Chic collection a bit weird to start with. I saw them and I did think wow, where will I use them? There’s 2 in the ephemera pack and one on the 6×12 sticker sheet and I have used them all! I loved them, could use a load more lol! I have also added some of the Chipboard Shapes from Cute Girl, they are the crown, the little houses and the word girl in my title. The word city is the new Thickers from DIY Shop 4 and they’re a nice size of white Thicker with a pretty gold border. I also added some lines of dots with the Violet Galaxy Nuvo Crystal Drops, this is a good colour match for the purple in Urban Chic.

I liked the floral patterned paper so much, I decided to use it as a background paper. I did layer it on a piece of black as a border and sewed around the edge. Again, I’ve used the Rainbow paper from Cute Girl and I also layered my photo on a piece of it from the 6×6 paper pad. My title is from Dear Lizzy, Saturday, the Chipboard Phrase Thickers. It was yellow but it didn’t show up enough on my LO, so I coloured it in with a Sharpie. I’ve embellished using hearts from Illustrated Faith, She Blooms, Enamel Hearts Mix, the #awesome Flair Badge and the ‘I love this girl’ banner is from the Cute Girl, Puffy Accent Thickers. I dotted with Carnation Pink Nuvo Crystal Drops. I do love the little winking eyelash stickers from the Urban Chic 6×12 Sticker Sheet that I’ve used under my title. They’re so cute!

Here’s another LO with a patterned paper background! Yes I am in the car in this selfie but we were stopped in a traffic jam at the time. I don’t usually take selfies while driving but I’d just had my hair done so you know, why not! Another paper I fell in love with is this black & white striped one from Crate Paper, Cool Kid, Buddy. This is the perfect size striped paper, I bought 4 sheets of this too so you might see a lot of it! I also used some offcuts of the Rainbow paper too. I’ve used a tag from the layered tags pack and added a Puffy ‘life’ Sticker on top. The cute little ‘so rad’ star is Cool Kid, Resin Stars and I’ve dotted on this LO with Gloss White and Bright Metallic Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Back to my comfort zone for these next 3 LO’s and a white background! This one I have just used 6 different sheets from the 6×6 Urban Chic paper pad and cut a 1 1/4″ strip. I stacked them up and then decided to add some strips of the black & white striped Buddy paper in between. I dotted Rhubarb Crumble and Violet Galaxy Nuvo Crystal Drops above and below. I’ve used some bits from the ephemera pack, a layered tag and the Thickers from Urban Chic. The rabbit is from Cute Girl, Rubber Shapes and it doesn’t really have anything to do with my photo or my day out, but I liked it, so I used it! It’s so cute, I can’t see me using it on any other LO and I’ve learned my lesson about saving things for that “perfect” LO, if I like it, I use it. And why not eh!

Sticking with the, stick something on because you like it theme, I stuck a unicorn on this following LO! I didn’t like it before that and then I got the Chipboard Shapes from Cute Girl and I added the ‘hey girl’ banner to the top and the unicorn and I liked the LO! So my new theory is, if you don’t like something…. stick a unicorn on it! As I said above, I’m probably never going to do a LO that legitimately calls for a unicorn so why not use where I want? I’d rather it be used on a LO, than sat in the packet waiting for that perfect LO to use it on. The rest of this LO is basically done with scraps that were on my desk. There’s the Rainbow paper from Cute Girl and then some of the cut-off strips from Urban Chic, along with some other pieces from the 6×6 pad. I’ve dotted around some stickers from the 6×12 sticker sheet and ephemera.

Now my last LO is a little bit different for me. I saw an advert on TV where they added colours to water and it spread and made cool watercolour patterns. I wanted to make a similar background for me and I started a real trial and error journey and ruined a lot of pieces of white cardstock on the way *sob*. Eventually I got the effect I wanted after watching some videos on YouTube and learning to wet my cardstock before I dropped some mists on top. Seriously, I did about 20 duds before I got this one!
I’ve used paper from the 6×6 paper pad, some bits including the frame, ‘strike a pose’ & heart sunglasses from the ephemera pack. I’ve used another resin star from Cool Kid and one of the resin hearts from Cute Girl. I punched a lot of circles from black and white cardstock, used some puffy arrows from MAMBI and a Love Arrow Flair Badge from HLM. My title is using the Awesome Wood Veneer Words from Heidi Swap and the new Meadow Thickers from Pink Paislee.

I had fun with the Urban Chic collection and if you’re buying it, I definitely think you should add in the colourful striped Rainbow Paper from Cute Girl and the black & white striped Buddy Paper from Cool Kid because they compliment the collection so well.
