Color Study Part 2 | Vicki Boutin | Giselle Homer
Hello again Magpies,
I’m back with two more layouts using the gorgeous Color Study collection from Vicki Boutin.
A TON OF AWESOME
Black isn’t my ‘go to’ choice as a background but I wanted to try it with this first layout and I’m pleased with how it turned out! It contrasted well with the bright colours in this collection and my photo.

I began by applying white paint across the centre using the packaging technique. Then I splattered some gold spots over the top to add colour.

I tore two 12″ lengths from the stripy paper and glued them at the top and bottom of the background. I tore two thinner strips from the daisy paper and tucked them underneath, with some fussy cut flower halves as well on the lower edge.

The photo was backed with two layers of paper and embellished with more fussy cut flowers and leaves.

Underneath the top strips, I added some twine, a tag and even more flowers!

To finish the layout I wrote my journalling next to three puffy heart shapes in the lower right corner.

HAPPY SOUL
My next layout is quite different as it has lots of white space and is based on a circle, which I cut out from cardboard to use as a mask.

I began by painting a large circle using some diluted drawing ink in three colours. I used a wide brush and varying amounts of water so that the circle shape wasn’t too formal or rigid, plus some dark yellow ink splats around the outside of the circle.

Two tags were glued to the top right of the layout with flowers, a phrase tab and some gold stickers.

The photo was layered over some patterned paper and a large die cut journalling tag. I used the colours on the tag to add some word stickers. Plus, an edge made from half circles, a puffy heart and a document tab where I wrote the date.

I punched out lots of small flowers which were added around the circle. The title is from a previous Vick Boutin collection called Storyteller.

Maybe you’ll be encouraged to try this collection, it can be used for so many events and themes, you won’t regret it! I look forward to seeing your layouts on our Facebook page too.
Until next month, happy scrapping everyone!
