Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Unforgettable Part 2 | Caroline Aston
Hi Magpies, I’m back today with my second post using the incredibly beautiful Unforgettable collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I absolutely love the papers in this collection, with their soft watercolour palette. However, I have focussed more on the collection’s embellishments this time, using a combination of the Accessory Stickers, Clear Stickers and the Die Cut Ephemera.
Living the Dream
For my first layout this week I knew that I wanted to keep the patterned paper to a minimum. Creating a page with a central focal point and also lots of white space.
I printed my photo at 4×6” with a white border. Positioning it in the centre of the page, layered on top of a piece of the Sprightly Paper and the Natural Beauty Paper.
Next I began to build up the rest of the page. Starting with the clear stickers. The clear watercolour brushstroke stickers are fab, I could quite easily use a whole sheet of just the brushstrokes. I wanted them to peek out from either side of the patterned paper. So I cut a couple in half, so that they would go further on the page. I then did the same with both of the circle frames, tucking them under either side of the photo.
I carried on building up the page, using a mixture of the stickers and die cuts for the embellishment. Choosing to use the ‘Living the Dream’ die cut as my title. There are so many wonderful little embellishment pieces in this collection, that are just perfect for layering.
I finished off the page by adding some printed journaling to the bottom of the page.
Photo Stories
For my second layout this week, I got out my hexagon punch. Punching a number of hexagons from three of the papers. Arranging them to form a pattern stretching across the page. I chose to position the hexagons on the left hand side slightly off the page. Using the gorgeous Sprightly Paper as the main paper in the design, along with the Natural Beauty Paper and the B-side of the Garland Paper.
I printed my photos at 3×4”. Applying a filter to them before printing to tone down the colours slightly so that they worked with the colours on the page. I then chose to mat them onto white card. Giving them a thin white border so that they would stand out on the page.
Whilst positioning the hexagons, I created an area in the centre towards the top of the page to form a grounding for my photos.
I then reached for the embellishments to finish off the page. Scattering stickers and die cuts in the top left hand corner and down the right hand side of the page. To form a diagonal line across the photos and the page. I used the ‘Photo Stories” sticker as the title. Adding an arrow, pointing towards it to bring attention to the cluster on the page. I wanted to raise up the heart die cuts, to give the page some dimension. Using a small amount of foam tape behind each one to do this.
I finished off this page by printing off a small amount of journaling, which I cut into strips and positioned below the photos.
That’s all from me today, thank you for stopping by. If you like Cocoa Vanilla Studio and the Unforgettable collection, you can find the range in the shop here. I’ll be back again next month. So until then Happy Scrapping!
