Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Unforgettable | Caroline Aston

Hello Magpies, this month I’ve been enjoying creating with the gorgeous Unforgettable collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I love the beautiful watercolours, florals and script fonts in this collection. It has the perfect colour palette for me as it includes mint green, pink and grey, which are some of my go to colours.

We Don’t Remember The Days …

For my first layout I wanted to pick out the mint green in the collection. Along with the gorgeous Woodgrain of the Natural Beauty Paper. As I thought they would work perfectly with my beach photo.

I started by printing my 6×4 photo with a white border. Then, I cut a large piece of the B-side of the Sprightly Paper and a smaller piece of the Natural Beauty Paper to form the base of my layout.

This collection has a fab cut apart sheet, the Story Teller Paper, with some lovely quotes, journaling spots and labels. I went for the 12×12” Collection Kit and the 6×8” Paper Pack, meaning I had two of these sheets in each size. Therefore, I was able to cut up one of each of them straight away. This gave me a number of extra pieces to use as embellishments.

I selected a 3×4” journaling card and a 2.5×1.5” quote to add to my page to the right of the photo. Which left me with a space to the left of my photo for an area of embellishment. I built this area up using pieces from the Accessory Stickers and the Die Cut Ephemera. There are so many fun things to choose from in the ephemera pack, including lots of gorgeous watercolour florals. I also selected a little banner die cut and tab sticker which I added to the photo. Then I added two more areas of embellishment to the page using pieces from the collection, to form a visual triangle around the photo.

I chose to use a white background for this page and wanted to leave quite a bit of white space. However, I felt the background looked quite stark. So I splattered some pink and silver iridescent acrylic paint onto the white card, just to give it a subtle effect without overwhelming the background.

To finish I added a small piece of grey bakers twine to each of the embellishment clusters, to add a bit of texture. I chose not to add a specific title to the page as I had included a number of quotes and word stickers, which I felt was sufficient.

Our Stories

My second layout today actually started with the “Take photos, make memories, repeat” 3×4” card, from the cut apart sheet. I thought this was a lovely quote and I loved the little camera detail. So my next step was to pick a photo that I thought would go well with the quote. I printed my photo at 6×4”. Matting it twice, first onto white card and then on to black.

I also loved the 3×4” woodgrain card from the cut apart sheet, with the little banner detail in the top left corner. Choosing to use this as a base for my photo. However, as it was smaller than my photo, I needed to add another element to it. Therefore, I cut a piece of the B-side of the Garland Paper and positioned the woodgrain piece in the top left corner.

Next I moved on to building up the page. Originally I opted for a white background. However, I loved the chevron pattern of the B-side of the Glorious Paper so decided to go with that instead. Choosing to position my papers and photos towards the bottom of the page, also adding strips of the B side of the Natural Beauty Paper.

I positioned my first embellishment cluster so that it would cover up the join of the woodgrain and mint green paper, at the bottom left of the photo. Again selecting pieces from the ephemera pack, to build up the cluster. I thought the feathers in the pack were beautiful. So I just had to add one to this page along with the flowers and leaves. I also added a smaller die cut cluster to the top right of the mint green paper strip.

To finish off the page, I added a title below the photos using the fab Foam Title Stickers. As well as the place and year the photo was taken, using some small tile letter stickers.

That’s all from me today, thank you for joining me. If like me you love the Unforgettable collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio, you can find it in the shop here.

I will be back again on 25th November with more from this fabulous collection. See you then.
