Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Happy Days | Awesome Skelter Fun | Amy Kattenbelt
Hello Magpies, Amy here sharing my very first layout creating the new Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection called Happy Days. Its a bright collection with lots of flowers, butterflies and all things summer.
Awesome Skelter Fun – (Skelter is Dutch for Go Kart)
The first thing I did to make this layout was to lay down a layer of mixed media. I decided to make it grey so it didn’t fight with all the gorgeous colours in the collection. I used the packaging technique but used Tim Holtz Brushstrokes stamps instead of packaging. This is something that Julie mentioned on the Hey Little Magpie Facebook group, and I have to agree that the stamps are brilliant and I will be using them a lot! I used Distress Oxides in Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke. When it was dry I also added some silver splatters.
I picked 5 of the papers from the A5 paper pack in a variety of colours, and cut 5 different shaped circles from each paper. I then layered them up in to 5 groups and stapled them together.
I matted my two 3×4″ photos onto the A5 paper with tiny hearts, and then added them and the 5 circular embellishments to my mixed media background.
I added my title using two of the words from the chipboard set. The large word ‘Skelter’ was created by stamping with Elles Studio Large Outline Jane Alphabet Stamps onto the same papers I previously used. I fussy cut them out and then with a black fineliner I added some extra lines so that they matched the white chipboard words. I love how this turned out.
Lastly I added some fussy cut butterflies from the 12×12 paper called “Flutterby“, some die cuts and a phrase sticker.
Thanks for taking a closer look at my layout, I look forward to sharing lots more ideas using this collection. Take Care,
