Hello Magpies & welcome back to the blog. I’m sharing a travel layout today & using a few of the exclusive wood pieces available in store.
There’s something magical about scrapbooking a trip to New York City—the energy, the landmarks, and the memories that feel larger than life. For this layout, I used the Carta Bella New York City collection, and it could not have been a more perfect match for documenting our unforgettable visit to the Big Apple. I first added a large stencil, down the left edge, to add some interest & add impact to the background.
I then selected patterned papers that captured the classic NYC vibe—bold typography, city icons, and just the right mix of vintage charm and modern style. The colours in this collection made it so easy to coordinate everything while still letting the photos shine. From the busy streets to the iconic skyline, each paper felt like it was made for these memories.
For the title, I used the wood piece “City Break,” and I absolutely love the texture and dimension it adds to the page. Wood embellishments have a way of making a layout feel warm and timeless, and this one perfectly sums up our getaway. It immediately draws the eye and anchors the entire design.
Under the photos, I added travel icon wood pieces, which was one of my favourite details. These little icons help tell the story without overwhelming the layout—subtle reminders of adventure, sightseeing, and exploring a new city. They also balance the page beautifully and tie in seamlessly with the title.
Of course, no NYC scrapbook page would be complete without highlighting our visit to the Statue of Liberty. Seeing her in person was such a powerful moment, and documenting it felt extra special. This layout now holds not just photos, but the feeling of standing there, taking it all in.
This project was a joy to create, and the Carta Bella New York City collection truly helped bring our memories to life.
