Christmas Tree – Mittens and Mistletoe – Crate Paper – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! As we are charging through the New year, Christmas is beginning to be a distant memory. However I  have wanted to document the trees we put up in our home and every year I think I will but don’t quite make it. This year I have, so here they are! This month I have been using American Crafts Crate Paper Mittens and Mistletoe Collection. It is a beautiful collection full of pastels and brights so perfect for everyone’s preferences.

I created a large letter tree cut file which I backed using the 12×12 Dear Santa paper from the collection and painted it gold. I positioned it slightly to the right of the layout to allow my three photos some space.

This collection comes with a beautiful acrylic stamp collection and I loved the tree stamp especially. I decided I would use the stamps to show case them on the layout. I stamped three trees and embossed one with gold embossing powder, I then used watercolour paints to fill them in. Then I fussy cut them all, it is quite hard to see this tree has gold embossing on it.

In this collection there is a beautiful journalling ephemera pack and I picked out all the pieces which had trees on them , including tags and journalling cards. I distressed all their edges.

I also picked all the tree stickers and tree puffy stickers from the collection and made clusters with the stamped trees.

Using the stamps and embossing them is something I’ve not done for a long time and I had forgotten how lovely this effect is. I stamped the banner, poinsettia cluster and scroll and embossed them all with gold powder to match the gold on the cut file. I used watercolour paints to colour them .

This collection also comes with a cute set of charms and there is  coordinating charm with the Christmas tree which is on the stamp which I attached to the tag at the top of the layout.

Having essentially completed the layout I machine stitched all around the edge using gold thread to add a bit more sparkle! Finally I added gold splatters over the layout.

This collection is still available in the Hey Little Magpie shop and would also work well for wintery layouts as there is a variety of papers not all just for Christmas so do take a look .

Until next time… Happy Scrapping!
