Christmas Party – Echo Park Paper – Winter – Wendy Meffan
Hey Magpies! It’s Wendy here again on the blog sharing another layout using the gorgeous ‘Winter’ collection by Echo Park paper. We had a Christmas Party this year and my husband surprised me by buying himself a new blue shirt independently and I ended up wearing a blue dress! The photo was so perfect in colour for this collection I decided to use it!
When I first saw this collection I loved the 12×12 floral paper and knew I would want to fussy cut some flowers and use them on the layout. This was the first thing I did, I fussy cut a selection of flowers both from the 12×12 paper and some smaller ones from the 6×6 paper pad. I decided to create the word Party in big letters as a title, so chose five different papers from the 6×6 pad and cut a 3×4 piece from each of them. then I drew the shape of each letter on them and cut them out, I then machine sewed around each letter.
I cut a strip 12×5″ from the 12×12 journalling cards paper and used the B side to have a base for the letters. I tore along both edges and the attached to 1″ strips from the B side of the 12×12 Snowy Sprigs paper and tucked them under top and bottom . Again I tore the edges and attached sticky fixers under them for dimension. I then attached all the letters on sticky fixers.
I matted my 3×4′ photo and chose to position it in the top left of the layout, I then used a Rosie’s Studio Mini Heart Tag die and cut two heart tags, I punched some tabs and distressed the edges of some of the ephemera and attached all these elements along with the fussy cut flowers around the the photo.
I used the larger flower I had previously fussy cut on the right lower aspect of the layout. I chose some of the ephemera banner shapes, distressed their edges and attached them under neath the flower using sticky fixers. I then distressed the best day ephemera piece and attached it along with some adhesive brads.
I then made a similar type of cluster over to the left hand side to balance the layout.
I felt I had too much white space on the layout so added Christmas in silver letters and then used a word die from Bramblefox to increase the title to ‘December Christmas Party’. i then used a Christmas lights die and added a string of them across the top of the layout.
Finally I added some blue splatters in metallic blue watercolour.
I hope you feel inspired to make your own letters by cutting pieces from a rectangular or square shape which keeps them all uniform.
Please do post your layouts over on the Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration Facebook page as we love to see your creativity and do take a look at all the new collections over at https://www.heylittlemagpie.com/
Until next time Happy Scrapping!
