Hello Magpies

Sometimes a photo is simply too beautiful to trim down, and this stunning confetti shot from my daughter’s wedding deserved to take centre stage! Measuring 11 x 7.5 inches, the oversized photo creates an instant focal point and captures the joy and excitement of the moment in such a dramatic way.

To complement this special memory, I reached for the gorgeous One Perfect Day collection from 49 and Market. Although it’s an older collection, it’s still the perfect choice for documenting wedding memories. The soft, romantic colour palette and elegant icon pieces work beautifully together to enhance the photo without overwhelming it.

I started by trimming down one of the solid papers and layering it onto a striped patterned paper to create a subtle border before securing it with machine stitching. The large photo sits over on the left-hand side of the layout, allowing it to make maximum impact while leaving space for embellishments to shine.

I created two embellishment clusters to balance the design—one at the top left, that sits on the photo, and the other at the bottom right, extending from the photo onto the background paper. I layered in rub-ons, ephemera, tags, twine, labels, flowers and a few charm embellishments to add texture and depth, creating plenty of little details to discover.

To finish everything off, I added the gorgeous Cherished Moments acrylic title, exclusive to Hey Little Magpie. It was the perfect final touch and beautifully sums up the emotions captured in this unforgettable photograph. This layout is a lovely reminder that sometimes letting a single photo take the spotlight is all you need to tell a truly special story.
