Check out Saturday Afternoon by One Canoe Two
Hey Magpies, Rachel here! I decided to push myself this month and I picked One Canoe Two, Saturday Afternoon to work with. I will be brutally honest, I was not a big fan of this collection. I am far more drawn to bright colours, the brighter the better. So the darker colours of this line were not really me. But WOW! I kid you not, I got this collection one afternoon and by the next day I had 4 layouts done. I should probably pick collections that I don’t ‘love’ more often cause I found Saturday Afternoon really easy to work with! I was very surprised how easy my LO’s came together. I definitely recommend getting out of your lane every now and then and trying something different, it certainly worked for me!
For my first LO I went straight to the 6×8″ Paper Pad and picked the green pattern. I absolutely love 6×6 and 6×8 paper pads, I often just rip a sheet out and use it as is under a photo. So all that’s really on this LO is a piece of 6×8″ paper and some ephemera! The flowers and ‘Let’s be lazy’ title are from the Die Cut Ephemera pack as well as the banner with the camera on it. I had the sequin waste hanging around on my desk so I added that in too.
The Thickers I have used on all 3 of the LO’s here are rose gold ones from an older Paige Evans collection. They’re not available in the store anymore unfortunately but they just fit with Saturday Afternoon collection so well, I had to use them. They’re definitely a cool alpha, they have come out in a few different colourways and they’re a great addition to your stash as they seem to fit so well on so many LO’s. If they come out in a new colourway soon, make sure to snap some up! The pack I used has gold on one side and rose gold on the other.
Two rows of Nuvo Crystal Drops finished off this LO, there’s not much product on this one but I just didn’t feel the need to add much more!

I didn’t buy the large hexagon, Rainbows & Ice Cream paper because it was out of stock when I ordered (sign up for an email when it comes back in stock if you need it and you will get an email as soon as it is re-stocked) and honestly, I wasn’t sure I liked it. But then I started seeing LO’s online where people had used it and it looked amazing! So I’ve signed up for an email when it’s re-stocked lol! I used the sheet from the 6×8 Paper Pad on this LO and it has rose gold foil on it so the hexagons that look really dark brown on here are actually rose gold foil and it’s really shiny and lush.
I have used lots of Nuvo Crystal Drops on this LO because I was meeting a friend I made on a scrappy forum and I was kinda known on there for using Nuvos a lot. So I felt like I had to use lots to document this! So I did a border of many colours around my photo and then drizzled a doodly border around the edge of my papers. I was sort of trying to make it nice and perfect as you can probably see along the bottom, but then I made a mistake so after that I didn’t go for perfection and you can see on the right hand side where I went all zig-zag cause my hand was getting sore squeezing that bottle!
I got the Rotary Date Stamp and I actually used it and it’s super easy to use. I’m not much of a stamper but I found this so easy to use, I used it a lot. I will leave it out on my desk from now on!
I also used some of the Rose Gold Rub-Ons as well, they’re the little arrows above and below my border. They surprised me too, they’re really easy to use and they look fabulous! I also used them on black cardstock (you’ll see that on the 16th) and they worked super well on black.

My last LO uses one of the cut apart sheets, Treats & Trips and I used the smile banner as well as the ‘it’s a beautiful day’ card as my title. The photos are of me hiding a rock I painted on a walk so the card with the hills on reminded me of the place we were walking. I added some Nuvo dots in co-ordinating colours and suck on some super old skeleton leaves which my friend Stacy had challenged me to use! They fit in with the Saturday Afternoon collection real well. I also added the Layered Sticker which says joy, the layered stickers are awesome!

So these are the first three layouts I made with the Saturday Afternoon collection. I have three more to share on the 16th as well. I found this collection so easy to work with so I definitely challenge you Magpies, check out some of the collections which aren’t really ‘you’ sometimes, you might be surprised how easy they are to use! I was also surprised last year when I worked with Doodlebug, another collection I thought wasn’t in my lane and I whacked out a ton of LO’s with it and realised I am a Doodlebug kinda girl! I will be looking forward to the next One Canoe Two collection from American Crafts too! See you later in the month Magpies xxx
