Chasing Adventures & This is Family | Morag Cutts
Hi there Magpies. I’ve been working with two collections from Pebbles this month. I’ve mixed various papers and elements to create two very different layouts but both about travel!
My first layout is very autumnal. I am really loving a rich navy and mustard colour combo at the moment so I selected these colours from the collections.
To create the ‘fan’, I scored the Scattered Leaves paper and folded the paper like a fan. I then misted water over the back over the paper so I could scrunch and manipulate it. You do need to be gentle as the paper becomes weak. Once you are happy with the paper, leave it to dry .
I then tied twine around the centre and tucked in flowers and die-cut leaves. By dry brushing gesso over the flowers, it toned down the colour and gave a shabby chic look. I topped off the ‘bouquet’ with a tag. The background paper is Asian garden – it really makes everything pop!
Sky View
If you have been following my posts then you’ll know I’m building an 8.5″x11″ album of my trip to New York.
Our hotel was right in the action near Times Square. We selected a Sky View room so instead of facing lots of buildings, our room looked out towards the Hudson River.
A great colour scheme for a New York layout is definitely Yellow and black. I smooshed Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink onto my background paper.
To add more detail, I stamped and used a stencil to add a little more colour to the background. I matted my photos on to the gorgeous Family Life paper and Aloha paper. I added stickers from This is Family sticker book and Chasing Adventures cardstock stickers.
Thanks for popping in.
