Celebrate Together – Amy Tangerine – Brave and Bold – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone, this month I’ve chosen to use Amy Tangerine’s Brave and Bold Collection, it is full of a wide selection of bright colours and bold designs. My  initial thought was to use the 12×12 Monarch paper full of the beautiful butterflies so I fussy cut a lot of them out. The colours were a good match for the girly photo I had . I gutted the 12×12 Whole Heart paper and used the B side to edge the cardstock which I trimmed down.

I decided to used some mixed media for the background to this layout so chose the main three colours of the butterflies, I painted a line of water across the page dropped watercolour paint into  it and let it run down vertically. I then punched some circles to attach the butterflies to from the 6×8 paper pad in corresponding colours. I arranged them to each side of the photo which I matted with the cut out piece from the border paper. I then added the Together Foam Phrase sticker to the bottom of the photo. I attached sequins down each of the paint drips.

I  then cut one of the pieces from the 12×12 Take Note paper and created a 3×4 card from another page in the 6×8 pad. I distressed the edges of both pieces and the mounted the photo on them. having got this far into the layout I felt it was a little dull and so used a Bramblefox star burst stencil and painted watercolour in the lines and extended them to the edge of the card stock. Then I re-attached the photo mat and tucked another butterfly in at the top of the photo.  I added some hexagon stickers in between the circles from the Mini Puffy Stickers sheet.

Finally I punched several butterflies in the same colours as the circles and added them randomly down the painted rays.

I love how this layout turned out and it was in keeping of the surroundings of the photo which was a very pretty restaurant where my daughter was celebrating her 21st with friends.

Layout 2

This layout is in complete contrast with the first one and is very bold, it almost had a Christmas feel to it I realised afterwards with the colour combination which I had chosen to co ordinate with the dresses in the photo! I started with a mixed media background using distress oxides and then added some splatters in red, green and gold.

I matted the photo and cut some strips and from the 6×8 paper pad.  Then I cut a large rectangular piece from the 6×8 paper pad and punched the edge using a notepad punch. I attached the photo to this and raised it on sticky fixers for a bit of dimension. Then I positioned the strips above and below having distressed all the edges.

I then used 12×12 True Story 4×4 Cut apart paper and used the So Fun piece, again distressing the edges.

I cut out the journal piece from the 12×12 Take Note paper and added it to the left of the photo. I fussy cut the teal heart from the 12×12 Whole Heart paper and then used it as a template to cut out some other hearts in different colours from the 6×8 paper pad, I arranged them in clusters to the left of the photo. I used some dies to cut some mini flowers to add around the layout.

I then used the sticker sheet and added  a selection of words and phrases to the layout.

As a final embellishment I used some Bramblefox Holy Moly perpsextives dotted around the layout.

I hope you can see the diversity of this collection as the colours are so different between the layouts , although equally stunning. you can check out this collection in the shop at https://www.heylittlemagpie.com/?s=amy+tangerine+brave+&+bold&post_type=product
