Catch a Wave – Echo Park – Summer Vibes – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! It’s Wendy here sharing my first layout for October and this month I’m using Echo Park Summer Vibes  Collection. This was perfect for documenting our annual camping trip to Cornwall over the August Bank Holiday.

The 12×12  Collection pack is full of a great selection of papers along with a sticker sheet. initially I gutted a 12×12 paper and trimmed the white card stock, I adhered the gutted paper behind to create a white border.  I then chose to use the 2×2 12×12 cut apart sheet to display all teh little squares. I cut up all the small squares and distressed their edges. I then played around with a selection of them starting with six squares and ending up with fifteen small squares placed down the right side of the page! I randomly raised some on sticky fixers for  more dimension on the layout, I outlined some of the squares with a fine liner pen to give more definition to the squares.

I used two 3×4 photos one portrait and one landscape. I matted these on another paper from the collection. I am a huge lover of tags and used the Catch a Wave tag from the Frames and Tags pack . I used some of the patterned paper and created two more slightly larger tabs . I distressed the edges of all three tags and again outlines their edges. I tucked the two larger tags behind the photos and added the Catch a Wave tag in front. I raised it on sticky fixers to give more dimension. I threaded waxed string through the tags and then added some chipboard accents over the photos.

I created a sticker cluster to the right of the photos using the sticker sheet and chipboard accents. I tucked in some waxed string behind the chipboard. This is a great way to add extra dimension/ texture to a layout. Finally I added some  decorative brads to the layout.

I journaled a few words under the photos.
