Carta Bella 'Let's Travel' | Jo Boland

Hey there, it’s Jo here with my first batch of projects for June. This month I’ve chosen to play with the new Carta Bella ‘Let’s Travel’ collection with its lovely vintage style icons and soft palette.

I ordered several of the 12 x 12 papers (see individual layouts for links to those used), the 6 x 6 paper pad, the chipboard phrases and the chipboard accents, enamel dots, the 12 x 12 sticker elements, frames & tags die-cuts and the ephemera die-cuts.

My first layout is called ‘Destination Home’. It features a photo I took back in the Easter holidays of my boys boarding our flight home after a lovely holiday in Northern Ireland staying with my in-laws. I purposely framed the shot to include the arrow painted on the ground and I loved how it turned out.

I used the ‘Life is Good’ paper for the background and although it features waves and not clouds I still felt it worked as we had to fly over the Irish sea from Northern Ireland to England. The central departure board paper is ‘Luggage Tags’, perfect for departing flights!

The yellow paper is from the 6×6 paper pad which I just joined in the centre to make it stretch 12″. It is a scaled down version of the ‘Planes’ paper. The letter thickers are from my stash as Carta Bella don’t have any alphabet stickers in the collection. These are three years old and were from a Shimelle collection.

The red paper is from the paper pad too. The style of drawing on these suitcases makes me think of Quentin Blake, love it!

My second layout is called ‘Places I Want to See’ and uses an ephemera die-cut for the title.

I went for a non-photo layout, making the most of the gorgeous ‘Places to Go’ paper, which I cut up and layered with foam pads.

The background is the ‘Postage Stamps’ paper, the red strip is from the ‘Tourist Class’ paper and the cut apart card is from the 4×6 Journaling Cards paper matted on a piece of the ‘Luggage Tags’ paper (as used in previous layout). The cardstock background is Bazzill Basics Kraft.

I used a load of little foam thickers from the Paige Evans Whimsical collection which I had in my stash.

It felt great to have a good think about places I’d like to visit and actually list them down. Let’s hope I get to tick some of them off my list!
