Capture the Joy, Vicki Boutin Peppermint Kisses | Julie Taylor
Hello Magpies, How’s December going? are you all ready or still manically shopping & wrapping?
Scrapbooking is the perfect chill out ‘ME’ time & the store is full of gorgeous goodies. I’ve chose Vicki Boutin’s Peppermint Kisses for this months layouts. A lovely mix of traditional bits with some of Vicki’s cute & graphic bits that can make your layouts ‘pop’.
I’ve gone with a traditional colour palette, on this layout, of green & red.
I chose the B side of Floral Sprig as my background but as it was really bright decided to add something over the top. I wanted a woodgrain but the collection didn’t have one so decided to make my own!! I trimmed my white cardstock down to 10×12 & scored the paper at regular intervals along the 10″ side, vertically. I then folded these so I had a more defined ridge. Lay the cardstock back out flat & taking an oxide ink pad, in a light colour, swipe it lightly down the page. go very lightly at first as you can always go back & add more colour. I used Bundled Sage & then went over with Old Paper but you could use any colour to make your woodgrain whatever colour you wished.
Leave to dry for a bit & then I added to my patterned paper, tearing the bottom edge & adding it level at the top so it had the red stripe showing around the 3 sides.
I made a tear, bottom right & added my title & small cluster down there.
It was then a case of making the banner up the top adding ephemera, paperie pieces, tags & foam stickers.
To add extra texture I added a tassel, that’s available in the collection, some twine, a couple of exclusive flair badges, 2 gingham fabric buttons & a fabric tab, These give texture & interest to the page.
Thanks for joining me today & I’ll be back soon with another layout using this collection.
Until next time,
